Towards the end of his career he had Stoke playing better footie then I have seen us playing in the last 10 years at least. 2 pacey skillful wingers and quality strikers with some quality in the middle of the pitch with the likes of Adam.

Stoke was a fortress and he continually got great results against the best teas in the country arguably some of the best teams in the world were nullified and beaten.

For me that's the dream, yeah if we play like tripe for the rest of the season and stay up by 1 point its the most successful season we have had since the early 90s. Give me 'plastic Arsenal fans' at the Emirates over 'real' Barnsley fans on a tuesday night all day long.

There is another myth about Pulis that he hates youth players!

Bollocks. Had the youngest captain in the league, and developed plenty during his time with Stoke, such as Shotton and he bought Butland etc, the squad had one of the youngest average ages, with more British players in the squad then a lot of other Premiership teams.

Let's not forget, our team is crap, we have heard it all season from managers 'not the most gifted but full of spirit,' that all comes from TP and if he keeps us up it's a miracle and then we will see some major changes.

Stoke were at their best footballing wise when they reached the FA cup final. They were pretty good to watch then, still direct but very much attacking.

My first comment about TP. I can see the reasons for why he is having Palace play the way they are. Have a solid defence first and second, then try score.

The most frustrating thing for me is when go behind there seems to be a lack of urgency to draw level or when drawing to go ahead. I can fully understand that after going behind the last thing a team wants is to concede again but out style of play stays the same, Is there a plan B?

The most simplistic way I can describe it is, defend, defend then attack with the hope to create and score but then quickly go back to defend again.

I take it this way of playing comes from management not the players taking the decision to play like this.

How much confidence does TP have in Palace that he feels that if we attack for any long spells that the opposition we easily break and walk through our defence and score? Fear before freedom.

I suppose its a means to an end but it is pretty grim viewing at the moment. If i was a forward player i would never want to play for a club that uses tactics like we do, it would be soul destroying. Ince is a good example, he is a player who was brought here to help improve our chronic lack of goals but is being used in a way that he can't hurt the opposition. If we do go down i don't think anyone in the Prem will shed a tear for us because we will be no loss at all. We can attack, as we proved in 1st half at Spurs, i would rather see us try to score the first goal and then start the tedium. This tactic of just staying in the game and see what happens is fraught with danger. We somehow need to find 3 wins from somewhere and i would rather take risks to win games other than just go for draws because we will lose most of our remainingfixtures 1-0.

Do you want prem football? War and Peace like comment slug or did you swallow a dictionary?

The midfield HAS to be

Jedi Ledley

Puncheon Bannan Bolasie

Get the ball on the floor and start passing a bit like at Man City(fantastic preformance)

I want us to stay up and I think Pulis is doing the best job possible in the circumstances. I also do not recall us playing all out attacking football in the Championship apart from a couple of months last season. However if we keep playing like we have in last two games we have had it for sure. Having sat through nearly five hours without a goal (I did not go to Swansea), without even many attempts on goal and without being able to pass the ball yesterday, plus the difficult fixtures we have left, I am finding it hard to see how we can stay up.

You can't play pretty football in a relegation scrap! Some people on here have no clue.

No-one expects pretty football Penge - just some football now and again would be nice

I think let's re-evaluate next season. If we stay up then we'll buy better players who can knock it about a bit.

These players can play football - I have seen it earlier this season. But we saw very little football from them on Saturday. They struggled to even stand up, kick the ball to a team mate, run with the ball or get the ball anywhere near the opposition's goal. Why was that? It's not that they don't have the ability.

Earlier in the season I was to busy watching our team feeling gutted at losing 2 0 every week rather then how we could pass the ball. The bit in Bold how is that Pulis's fault.

I can't recall a time they played 'attractive' football in the first half of the season. Stoke, United, Swansea, Southampton, Liverpool, Fulham etc. were dire. The only difference between then and now is we're not shipping 2/3 goals a game and we're getting points.

Yes, the football on Saturday wasn't great and aspects of the passing was woeful. I'd argue it's because it's a game we had to not lose. A win was unlikely, but had we lost, we were in a very tough position. Therefore, people weren't really bombing forwards and it makes gaining territory a lot more difficult because your passing options are restricted. On top of that, Sunderland tactically sussed our attack out and Bridcutt stopped anything we had going forward. Most important thing though is we limited them to two shots on target and we're still 3 points up on them. Sunderland would have viewed Palace (H) as a nailed on 3 points and they blew it. It's a results business at the moment and that result suited us a heck of a lot more.

Good post. Also, our goal difference is gradually improving - not sadly by actually scoring goals but by letting in fewer than our immediate rivals for relegation. This could be a factor at the end of the season?

Isn't this really all about Chamakh?

When he comes back, he will probably drop KG.

The last two games have been the worst because there has only been Murray up top whereas Chamakh has the ability to hold it up, beat people (oh and give away penalties).

We used to play with Jerome up top and Chamakh behind, that worked better than the flat 3 defensive midfielders - Chamakh is the key to us staying up in my view as he is able to offer the ability to hold it up and so support Murray/Jerome up top.

It is still "let's hit them on the break" - but it isn't as negative as three flat defensive midfielders.

When is he back......................?
