My grandparents lived down the road from Selhurst Park at one point; and always remember my Dad & Uncle talking about the good old days of Crystal Palace when I was growing up in New Zealand. (Still my dream to watch Palace play at Selhurst). GO PALACE!!!

I started in 1979 when my now husband invited me to share his ex's ticket in the AW. Never been to a game before.

My husband started in 1969 - first game he remembers is a Boxing Day defeat by Chelsea (4-0).

You pay for the flight and the ticket, and I'll personally buy you a beer! Can't say fairer than that.

My first game was some time in 76/77 - no idea who it was, or the score

Started supporting Palace when I got to infant school in 1968/9. Til then I was a sort of West Ham fan, still basking in the glow of Moore, Peters and Hurst in the World Cup. Fortunately enough classmates were able to tell me that Palace were the local team and I should tranfer my allegience.

First actual game was Palace v Stoke in 1971. We won 3-2!!

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand!

My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

I missed the start of that game after taking part in a schools cross country race at Lloyds Park.

My first game was Leyton Orient away on 7/10/65 & we won 1-0. First home game was 2 weeks later v Middlesborough & we won 3-1. I remember saying to my Dad on the way home that we won 3-0 & he told me that I had missed a goal!

A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas!

1999-2000 season. I had been supporting Man United like most of the kids at school at the time. Was sat with my dad watching Fulham vs Palace on Sky and Clinton Morrison scored a header. All I remember is going mental for the goal, more so than I had ever even cared for any Man U game/goal/league title. From that moment onwards I realised I was Red'n'Blue.

The face is familiar but I can't quite remember my name...

Hi

First let me introduce myself. I first started supporting Crystal Palace back in 1959 when my
Dad took me, as an impressionable eleven year old, to Selhurst Park to see the team play Exeter City,
4th April 1959 when they drew 1-1. We lived in Addiscombe at the time, and subsequently I used
to cycle to the ground and pay the exorbitant price of 6p (old money) to secure my bike in someone's
back garden for the duration of the game.

The programme, which I've kept along with very many others (although I've lost quite a few over the years),
tells me that the team that day was:

Vic Rouse, Bert Howe, Alf Noakes, Johnny McNichol, Len Choules, Terry Long, Ron Brett,
Roy Summersby, Tom Barnett, Johnny Byrne and Ray Colfar.

I've been a fan ever since and have seen a fair few games, both at Selhurst Park and in my youth
quite a few away games as well, including one long and boring trip to Carlisle. Highlights as far as
I'm concerned include when they thrashed Manchester United 5-0 in 1972 and the friendly against
Real Madrid in 1962 (score I believe was 4-3 to Real Madrid) amongst very many others.

Chronic ill health (I'll spare you the details) and a move to Cornwall rather put paid to my
attendances at Selhurst Park many years ago but my love for the club has remained ever since
and, as I expect along with a lot of "distant" fans, I listen in to the results on the radio and watch
whenever they are on the TV.

Favourite players over the years would have to include Bill Glazier, John Burridge, Don Rogers,
Terry Long, Johnny Byrne, Ronnie Allen, John Salako, Kenny Sansom, Julian Speroni and very
many others who have worn the Palace colours.

So briefly, that's my CV as a Palace fan and thanks to this web site and its contributors, I am
able to keep up with all the news and gossip concerning the Club.

Thank you.

Monday 27th April 1959 at 7.30pm (give or take a few minutes!).
The game was the Southern Floodlit Challenge Cup Final against Arsenal, we lost 0-2; at least my expectations were set from the very beginning!
Saw virtually every home game (plus some away) during the 1960s decade, the highlight being promotion to the top flight for the first time in the club's history, until work moved me to Gloucestershire in 1970.
Attendance at games has been sporadic since then, most commonly at grounds in the Midlands, I blame it on marriages, divorces, kids, work, house maintenance, poverty etc! But there's still only one club in the blood!
