Take Gibbs-White as a hypothetical. You sign him for £30m and he's on £70k per week wages for 5 years. On the books, that costs the club £9.5m for the year. Yes that is £9.5m per year for 5 years but at least you own the player and can sell him on. Loaning such an expensive player, especially one with his injury history, doesn't seem to fit with our model. At least with Gallagher, his wages and loan fee would have been probably half of RLC. Unless Chelsea are going to heavily subsidise his wages or put in clauses around injuries, neither of which I can really see happening, it just doesn't make sense to me. How do you the details of Gallagher loan deal or potentially RLCs deal. You seem to know all the financial goings on.

That is a very good way of looking at it and it makes finacial sense , 11 mill for a player for a season that will never be ours just no .

At the weekend I was in conversation with a gentleman involved in the game and he was fulsome in praise for Sheff Utd's Sander Berge. His comments included mention of Berge's ability to drive with the ball, his running power and the fact that he can dictate the game and break the line with passes. I'd welcome the arrival of Berger at Palace with no relish
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

How else is the model going to work. Clubs either WANT you to loan a player to help their development or a club wants to loan a player that they likely couldn't afford/wouldn't come permanently and you pay a premium for it Gallagher was a one in a 100 example, we cant keep comparing everything to him, if nothing else its getting boring

Ok so I hate the word gossip when it relates to transfers but I do think this is quite interesting... So just got off the phone to my old man who works as a referee assessor for the FA. Today he was at Chelseas training ground in Cobham assessing the ref in a Chelsea U23s game. He was sitting in the small stand they have at the main pitch there and a light skinned black lad (my old man said probably late teens/early 20s) sitting a few rows I front. As the players were warming up one of the them came over and said to this lad 'Are you going to Palace then'... This lad said Yes.. He was then asked when does he go and he replied 'tomorrow'.. Now my Dad is useless with names but from the description I'm thinking it could possibly be Colwill??.. I guess we will see!! Lots of news circling that Colwill will be used in the Cucurella to Chelsea deal. A pretty good deal for Brighton if true... the gits.

Gallagher with his energy and 'Pressing' was a vital cog for us. The problem we have is that Gallagher was a bit of a one off. Pressing and goals. Broadly you cant have both and need to pick either or. I think we'll have a lot of games this season where we have the ball but are struggling to unlock, having someone like RLC to bring on for Eze or as well as Eze is a good thing in my book. Personally I'd see if Chelsea will do a BOGOF with Gilmore and RLC. Gilmore has next to zero future at Chelsea he needs to get out.
