But suppose for one moment you are right (Far from it) and everyone is unanimous that they were soooo great. What would you suggest? running after them begging them to come back? Pleading maybe? Prehaps you might even turn on the old water works? That might pull on the heart strings?

Fact is they produced one of the best atmospheres in the country and set a precedent for our fans to hit in their demise, and set a trend for our away games aswell. It is not true that all fans think they're a negative thing - there are plenty fans of other clubs who think the noise they bring is excellent and a positive thing for English football. Don't get me wrong, I didn't agree with everything they did. From what I've heard from other fans of other clubs, the only issue they have is the fact they call themselves ultras and dress in black. If them calling themselves ultras and dressing in black is why anyone dislikes them, they're missing the point of them, and that's their problem. Fact is English football, in terms of atmosphere, has been on the decline for years, and to be honest, I find it quite sad that there are people who still cling onto the old terrace culture, which died many, many years ago. Whilst instead some lads (as are at several clubs like Boro, Lincoln etc.) are trying to rectify the problem, but are slagged off because they wear black and call themselves ultras, because for some reason if you wore another colour and just renamed yourself to Holmesdale Boys (or something to that effect), that makes all the difference. Agree on the final point, though, we should move on. Edited by Dan1994 (23 Aug 2018 7.04pm)

No doubt sits on his hands and shouts abuse for 90 minutes with the occasional chant of ‘we’re by far the greatest team.....’ I find that pathetic and embarrassing. Perhaps not you, but there are many Palace fans who support in silence and wallow in the glory of ‘best fans in the league’ when the reality is it’s the HF who deserve the credit. You can see from this thread that 90% will miss them. As a gold member I’m less enthusiastic about going now as for me the enjoyment is atmosphere over what’s on the pitch.

So you'd be quite happy to watch a s**t game ad long as thd atmosphere is good?. Personally for me its sll about the football. When I talk to people about the game, I discuss the match, not the atmosphere.

It’s just Joe average boring mid table wallowing with the others and potentially nothing different. I for one am rather dissapointed; many, many others are too. In fact from what I can see approximately 85% at least see it as a complete negative.

Hence why I go to watch teams like Clapton FC in the Essex League (although I’m not too keen on the left wing ultra stance) and matches in Germany, Poland and Austria. So yes, I’d take a few relegations in exchange for a rocking Selhurst every week in an heart beat. A sh*t game with a good atmosphere beats a good game with a sh*t atmosphere.

I find that an amazing statement. But each to their own.

The atmosphere on Monday wasn't as good as with the HF but if they don't want do it any more so be it. If their continuation was so dependent on moving knowing that they would displace and upset a lot of fellow fans and force most of the lower holmesdale to stand in the process then it's probably for the best.

Yes, it was always good to have them leading the chants ... but that doesn't give them the right to push out fellow supporters.

Says more about you to be honest.
I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that. |
