This post has been merged from a topic called 'Drop him, time for the bench- Benteke!!' by Midlands Eagle Disagree - had one of his better games in a while tonight. Great assist for the first - and bar an absolute world class save, would've been on the score sheet. Put himself about too. Getting some form back, which is great news.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Drop him, time for the bench- Benteke!!' by Midlands Eagle I am not a fan of him either anymore. However he has got the most assists in our team. He isn't scoring, and he doesn't work as hard as he should, and he really aggravates me, however, if he is assisting teammates or playing the pass just before the assist, which I can remember quite a few times this season, then whilst no-one else better is fit he has to stay in the side. Not sure if Sørloth is ready to lead the line on his own yet to be honest, but you can see he has the potential. Don't get me wrong though, I really can't stand Benteke, think I would rather Chamakh up top to be honest

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Drop him, time for the bench- Benteke!!' by Midlands Eagle Good game tonight, defended well and a great assist to set up andros, worked his socks off, croydon advertiser gave him 8/10, only bettered by the new young guy on the wing, who deservedly got a 9 and looks a talent! only a world class save stopped christian scoring, hope he brings this terrific form to the bridge saturday!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Drop him, time for the bench- Benteke!!' by Midlands Eagle He looked to me tonight like he was starting to turn his form around a bit, actually. Definitely more desire and quality than we have seen and doubled up as an extra centre-half. Unlucky not to score. Made a mistake at the end but so did Milivojevic and maybe down to fatigue. When Wilf comes back we'll have the option of replacing him with Soerloth after say 70 minutes, or the other way round.

Checking his socks after he lost it when the ball was a few yards away in the middle of Palace and Man Utd players he should've battled for and leaving that ball to go out for their throw were both a fvcking disgrace. It'd be funny when he moans at others before passing the ball away himself a minute later if it wasn't so critical. The bloke's head isn't how a professional should be. Shameful really.

Absolutely agree, when he let that ball run out of play he lost my good will. Couldn't believe it. Much worse than adjusting his socks when there's a ball to be won yards away after he lost it and his mates are battling for it. I suppose we've part caused this with no competition or back up but it's so unprofessional it's difficult to believe. I suppose because you don't see it as players get subbed or dropped if they are line this. Edited by Rudi Hedman (06 Mar 2018 12.37am)

Yeah, definately better in the air and passing than sorloth tonight, one great assist and as you said nearly scored but for a world class save, hope he brings this performance to the bridge!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Drop him, time for the bench- Benteke!!' by Midlands Eagle To be fair, he had three open headers right in front of goal. The first he somehow hit 5 yards wide. The second he hit 2 yards over the bar. The third the keeper made a great save on. His assist on Townsend's goal was excellent. Letting the ball roll out of play was horrifying, and the crowd right in front of him could be seen screaming at him afterwards. So it's always the same. He could have scored, he almost scored, he did some things well, and did some things that p-ssed fans off. For the money he's getting, not worth it. I don't necessarily think Sorloth would do better than Benteke. But on the other hand, if Sorloth played all season, I'm pretty sure he could match Benteke's 2 goal tally. And cost the club 1/10th as much.

Do you really take the points given by newspapers seriously? Yes, this was one of his better games...still a long, long way to enter any true Palace heart.
