This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave I think it's The Fire Safety Certificate, which I understood was on borrowed time some while back. Fire certificates have not been required for nearly twenty years

You know I try to be level headed in my views (save in response to some extreme populist views elsewhere) but here i am right behind the impatient brigade. We are told we have US money that has been ringfenced for infrastructure I.e. ground and training improvement. Raiding the coffers every winter should make no difference as it involves taking from a different coffer. One problem is a wholly unsympathetic council unlike say Liverpool where the population wholly supports anything to do with the big teams; the voters and ratepayers around the ground are less than 100% behind the club. Nevertheless, an application will either be accepted or rejected. If rejected, there may be grounds for appeal if the aplication had good merit. In fact, such an application may have to go to the SoS meaning it bypasses the council altogether. Either way, put a good application together and you will get consent. So where is the application? The other excuse is the problem with Sainsbury's. Then again, I thought the 2 ancient main stands were going to be developed first meaning we can continue with those improvements while thrashing out terms with Sainsbury's at our leisure. Am I missing something ? Yes I think that Sainsburies own the car park behind main stand. So that will need a deal. I think Palace rent it at the moment.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave Ok how long has it taken Spurs and Liverpool to build there new stadiums, from the moment they decided they wanted to.... Years and years and years.... And just the same its gonna take us a while too. Not sure why ANYONE would think we could do it quicker... Also why anyone would pay to sit in the part of the stadium they deem to be the worst is frankly just beyond me. But i guess you wouldn't have anything to moan about if you just went and sat somewhere else.... Edited by Goldfiinger (04 Nov 2017 10.38pm)

It's bs Lyons. Just hot air in order to placate. He said himself the money has been spent 'on the field'. His decision and his overall management style. Not how i would have done it, would have put 15-20% of seasonal income to one side to upgrade off it, but hey-ho. if youve got hundreds of millions to lose running a football club then you have the oppotunity to make such comments. otherwise you can join goldberg/sj in the group of peope who cant afford a football club but think they can do better.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave I had lunch with my architect friend yesterday. He believes that the club have made their choice regarding the main stand. If that is the case then we should expect to see some planning application over the next few months.

Edited by Goldfiinger (04 Nov 2017 10.38pm) Liverpool have not built a new stadium, they have added to it much like we plan to do. The extra 8,500 seats and other major developments as part of this project I think cost £110 Mill and further developments are planned to take the capacity to 60,000. If that is the case then we should expect to see some planning application over the next few months. That may have been the case for some time. Last time Parish spoke on this it was 'slithers of car park with a third party' only this time there was no fan reaction from the rallying call with marches or petitions as they own what the club sold to them directly by choice decades ago and a deal requires an agreement. It is this car park issue that's the hold up, not the choice of architecture. Other issues may be the row of houses by the Clifton pub and our unstable starts to prem seasons. My opinion is you cut out that annual lash up and you'll have confidence to progress. The problem there is next summer we face possibly the toughest transfer window, and not by our own design through ineptitude this time. Edited by Rudi Hedman (08 Nov 2017 10.08am)

Edited by Rudi Hedman (08 Nov 2017 10.08am) There is also our continued instability in terms of our tenureship in the PL with there always being the probability season-on-season that we could slip through that relegation trapdoor and lose vast sums in PL money. And significant sums are spent on player purchases and of course wages so this could be a factor in delaying the project. That said, there can be significant hurdles to overcome and hoops to negotiate as part of the planning process before approval is granted with a number of complex and convoluted issues coming to the fore. Edited by Willo (08 Nov 2017 10.20am) There's a difference from being say 13th-15th and 20th after 11 games having scored 2 goals yourselves. Similar shyte last season with the carry on of form from previous season and no left back, leaking 3-4-5 goals v relegation rivals. Prepare properly, cut out the amateurish shyte and then you can progress rather than put out football fires and put infrastructure on hold forever more.
