In Pardew's press conference where he got narky with the irritating journalist he was asked if we were in for Austin. He said a very categorical "no". No politician question dodging. Unless there's been a very dramatic u turn I'd be very surprised.
From SSN Sky Bet have slashed the odds on Charlie Austin joining Crystal Palace from 16/1 to 2/1 this evening. The QPR striker’s future has been much discussed all summer but it looks like it could be a nailbiter regarding which club he joins – if any – on Deadline Day, with Bournemouth still favourites to sign the former Burnley man. They can be backed at 7/4.
Nope it's not my name |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 BBC now reporting Murray is off to Bournemouth. Fee 5m. Medical tomorrow. They're not going to sign Charlie Austin. Only leaves us and West Brom interested. Where do you think he'll go, after they've already got Rondon who scored at the weekend? Somewhere in London? Someone on the up? Someone in need of a main striker? That'd be us.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 With what he saw on Saturday and our start to the season generally can't see him not wanting to join us if offered. QPR obviously want to sell, so it is really whether the club wish to fork out the money/player etc. deal. At the death we might be the only offer if we make one, on the table, particularly if he wishes to stay in London. However I wouldn't read into Murray's sad but business savvy departure, meaning we will definitely sign another striker in the window. This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 Just a gut feeling but I really don't think Palace have any interest in Austin. I hope I am wrong as if Muzza moves to Bournmouth It results in one of our better more experienced strikers being allowed to leave.
Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 I can only assume that the powers that be must think that we have a real chance to kick on this season given our start but Gayle would surely have to be offloaded first. I'm all for Charlie Austin but I think Wickham will come good given the chance and as for Bamford I can't see where he will get an opportunity to show what he can do.
