More to do with the ECB's continual printing of money/buying assets (like it's going out of fashion!) to prop-up a failing system.
But you always forget to mention this FACT for some reason.

On the contrary, 'printing money' as you put it, known as QE, will weaken a currency. The reason the ECB is still on a policy of QE is to stop the Euro from strengthening even more which will make it less competitive with regard to exports. The more notes you 'print', the weaker the currency will get or at least it will slow any growth in strength.

On the other hand the massive drop in international investment flows into the UK since June 2016 has been clearly reflected in Sterling's chronic weakness, the opposite scenario for the Euro. That of course should help UK exports but since the UK manufactures very little in relative terms, raw materials and basic components have to be imported, cancelling any currency weakness benefits out.

Funny how you love Europe so much, nothing to do with the obscene amounts of money you get from them is it.

I'd say xenophobia and nationalism exist outside of patriotism. If you are xenophobic or nationalistic I'd say it's unpatriotic because it makes it look to outsiders that we are all racist w***ers; many of us patriots do not fit that perception.

Would you say we were xenophobic during WW2?

Patriotism and nationalism are virtually the same thing in this context.

So you think that if you have any nationalism then that makes you a racist?

I think you trying to separate patriotism from nationalism is like separating an orange skin from an orange.....It's still part of the orange.

Patriotism is nationalism.

So are you going to be seeing everything through the lens of Brexit now?

Previously did you see everything negative as being a result of being in the EU?

Because rail fares don't go up every year do they.

Predictable blame Brexit nonsense.

I think you miss the point as explained in the link,Stirling (and Hrolf)..Inflation up as direct result of fall in value of sterling, which plainly has happened (at least in major part) as a result of the referendum outcome and talk of a hard brexit. Therefore, perfectly reasonable to relate the likely fare increases (and fall in standard of living) to Brexit.

Rail fares go up by similar amounts every year.

You don't think this is just a good headline with someone putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 or the rail companies making their annual excuse.

Anything to ignore the fact that rail fare rises (based on inflation) will reduce living standards for many directly because of the exchange rate consequences of the vote to leave the EU and the bluster about a hard Brexit....

Hedgie, do you know what racism is?

Cause if that's the way you see it,all those who think its a problem having people of a different ethnicity around could be characterised as racists....whereas they aren't (though similar in the way they discriminate about ethnicity to the way racists discriminate based on race)
