Is a good estimate and I agree..!!

When you compare our remaining fixtures against the others around below us - on realistic assessment we have by far the more winnable fixtures - I hesitate to say easy as nothing is easy in the Prem and everyone is fighting to stay in the league….!!

Then go on to compare the related squads in terms of overall quality and in our case. where we have just come off a run having played 7 of the top 10 and acquitted ourselves fine - what is only 2 defeats from that run…??

I come to the conclusion- we will be fine..!!

Meant to add and current position/points tally..!

I expect willo has been going to Palace longer than anyone but don’t here him demanding Vierra gets the sack

To repay a compliment I have also thought you have made some enjoyable contributions on this board.

Probably more worthy of a private message but in my opinion the ‘holier than thou’ and ‘I was there when we were x’ stuff is a bit silly and only paves the way for people ruining their own Sundays.

Some people’s perspectives are quite ‘unique’, let’s say, at times but we should all embrace it.

‘Don’t take it too personally or to heart’ I would add. Great result yesterday even if performance leaves some discussion points. I now look forward to Villa.

It’s very tiresome and very narrow-minded to use the old argument that only those who go to the game are entitled to an opinion. I can’t get to home games but I go to Newcastle away, Leeds away etc. does that mean I can call us great / crap after watching those but not watching the rest on TV? And are you telling me that no one in the crowd at Selhurst gives Vierra a hard time?

Why should he be getting a hard time?

Just thought I’d add in the ‘relegation’ thread that were still only 4 points behind Chelsea. Unlike me to want Spuds to win but enjoyed that today as their troubles are delicious. Gallagher nowhere to be seen either… I’m just saying.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I think Willo can speak for himself, and whatever he says i would respect his opinion.

Except you need to look at who was played during that period. Our last 8 games were all teams above us in the league, or in the top half.

I'm a bit of a stato and base survival on a 40 points target as 0.5 points per top half team and 1.75 per bottom half team. below is my expected points tally for the last 8 games.

If we translate that to the other teams you mention.
Palace--------8/0-------------5 points---4 (expected)---(+1)
Bournemouth---5/3-------------5 points---7.75-----------(-2.75)
Leeds---------3/5-------------6 points---10.25----------(-4.25)
Leicester-----6/2-------------7 points---6.5------------(+0.5)
Wolves--------4/4-------------8 points---9--------------(-1)
Everton-------4/4-------------8 points---9--------------(-1)
saints--------2/6-------------9 points---11.5-----------(-2.5)
West Ham------4/4-------------10 points--9--------------(+1)
Forest--------3/5-------------12 points--10.25----------(+1.75)

IMO this gives a better impression of current form. This puts us joint 2nd.

I will do this again after the next 8.

Great idea and although I don't understand everything (how you work out the points) it's a great idea and I am looking forward to the next. I personally believe that we will pick up 9+ points which should be enough.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

We have had a really tough run of games but we have ground out enough points to keep the 6 point buffer in tact. I was nervous following the Fulham / Spurs games but I think we have done exactly what we should have done ….knuckled down and made ourselves hard to beat. We will be fine this season.

I'm stating the obvious but going winless and scoring so very few goals for so long is bound to be a downer for all fans. OK points here and there have been salvaged keeping our head above water but a decent win would do the fans and team the world of good.

A start at Villa 0-3 will do nicely - when's Wilf back?

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.
