Roy's comments in the pre-match interview about DF & SP having identified young players they would like to bring in is encouraging. Will be interesting to see who they can get across the line.
He talked about wanting such players to challenge the established members of the squad. How much game time would they get?
Finally, he thinks there are some of our injured players who won't be ready for 12th September! If that is the case, some young players may well get the chance to prove they can do the job.

We have already brought in a young player in Ferguson who will be relatively cheap.

He is being heralded in glowing terms but one has to remember he just only made his debut last August, and has only played about 20 games, all in the Championship.
He hasn't played since January and I don't recall any great demand for his services with us in competition with other clubs. He might well turn out to be an astute acquisition but let's not get carried away at this stage.

As much as I’d love any of those three - I just don’t see any of them happening. I think they’ll be too expensive - could be more like Maya and if Fulham don’t come up Mitrovic (who I’d be delighted with).
I think there is a danger focusing on the “ageing squad” aspect too much, yes we need to freshen things up and bring the average age down - but quality is key. Cahill for example has been fantastic and if we were focusing on his age most would be saying probably too old.

Exe looks a class act, guess what.... West Ham are interested! Quelle suprise

I think we will sign Danny Loader who is a free agent and also go for Eze or Edouard. Wilf will go.
Will still be concerned about midfield but maybe we could bypass them!

There might be a compensation fee as there is for Ferguson.
Loader has scored just 2 goals in 35 appearances 1 of them was against League One Blackpool.

Consideration been given to Ivan Toney of Peterborough.
The price probably prohibitive.
Scores goals, got pace and possesses a top-notch attitude.
He does collect a lot of yellow cards.

A few in there who we've been linked with before and no doubt will again.

Ibe, Niasse, Ngakia.

No doubt there'll be a few in there who'll go on to prove their current employers wrong... big question is can we identify them.

I hadn't picked that up. "Some" means more than one, I assume. Any names?
