Never forget that Chelsea let Mo Salah and De Bruyne go, and Utd offloaded Pogba. All for peanuts. What did they miss? That players are different beasts when they feel believed in & confident and find their feet in a team. Sorloth doesn't have to hit their heights to become a much more valuable asset. "Sorloth heads the ball funny. He's s***." "Sorloth looks a bit lost. He's s***." No. He was a player nobody believed in. Nobody knows what he could be with a bit of faith and perseverance. If he hadn't played for us, we'd be desperate to sign him. The truth is, we just don't know what he's become while out on loan. Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (24 Jan 2020 2.39pm)

We should keep an open mind.

The old expressions are pretty good and there is one that suits Sorloth (and Dwight Gayle come to think of it) down to the ground, "horses for courses". The PL is not where their strengths lie. With Gayle it was one league down. With Sorloth it appears that the Turkish league suits. We may of course be proved wrong in the future with Sorloth but I would be very surprised if that were the case.

Good post. We should keep an open mind. Fair point ... but I am remain unconvinced that a donkey ever changes its bray. I'd be inclined to cash in while he is still effective. To be fair though he seems to be staying fit.

Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (24 Jan 2020 2.39pm) This just reminds me of the big smile on Hodgson's face at a press conference earlier in the season when he commented how in some people’s eyes, the longer players can’t get in his starting eleven the better they get

He was excellent 1 league down, but still good in the PL. Scored more than Benteke anyway.

People should ask themselves this: might a player who's at almost a goal a game in Turkey get one in 3, or even a bit better, in England? If we can have another look it's so worth doing that.

Calling Sorloth a donkey because he didn't do it for us is ridiculous. Strikers thrive when the team is set up around them. Sorloth is now getting the service that suits him and he is scoring for fun. We are set up to play on the counter attack and therefore require a pacey forward who can get in behind a defence. The question has to be asked is why we don't try and buy someone like this. Its therefore not suprising that big slower forwards Sorloth,Benteke,Wickham,Remy etc never really make an impact.

Nail head. Said it so many times I'm sick of saying it. I don't know why it's so hard to accept.

It also explains why Benteke scored under Big Sam, as he set the team up to play to his strengths.
