According to Sky Murray on his way to Bournemouth for a medical, 5m deal agreed. Palace now favorites to sign Austin.

Makes sense (the 'Austin deal') now that the Murray/Bournemouth deal is done. I doubt Palace would have sanctioned Murray going without the assurance that a replacement, of some sort, was in the pipeline.

I still would prefer Remy as he offers more variety in our forwards. Austin is too similar to Waickham. But what the hell beggars can't be choosers!

Really?? I think from what I've seen Austin is a more natural finisher than Wickham, by quite some distance!! Wickham might give us something, but I don't think it's going to s*** loads of goals, Austin's a poacher and knows where the goal is

Ok so in the Chelski match where would Austin have scored where Wicham missed ?

well it makes sense that Austin was favourite to join bournemouth this afternoon.

all three parties have realised Austin is above bournemouth level (possible relegation fight again) and palace can pay the higher salary too

This would fit - can also see Guedioura being part of the deal now.

Chain would be complete with Bournmouth getting Murray and QPR getting a player and money for Austin.

Can equally argue that in the arsenal game, austin would've scored the wickham chance.. Would be a top top signing IMO.. Cannot see it though

We're the Arthur over ere!

No one is saying Wickham is a lost cause already but the Premier League is ruthless and if something better comes along, even if you've just bought someone else in, there are no assurances you will be first name on the team sheet.

Sako is absolutely outstanding at the moment but if Messi comes out tonight and says "I must join Crystal Palace", I think Sako will find his chances limited all of a sudden.

As for what chances did Wickham miss that Austin wouldn't. You can't say there's a chance that would of been like for like but I reckon it may have been him in Joel Ward's position for the second, I also think it may have already been wrapped up before Falcao's goal if Austin would have known to be at the back post for the Bolasie chance.

Finally, if you want a like for like example, as unlucky as it was, I don't see Austin hitting the post against Arsenal from point blank range (which would have put us ahead and possibly now on 12 points from a possible 12).

In Pardew's press conference where he got narky with the irritating journalist he was asked if we were in for Austin. He said a very categorical "no". No politician question dodging. Unless there's been a very dramatic u turn I'd be very surprised.

Maybe Pards is a very good poker player and playing a game of bluff.
