Trump is claiming immunity for the Stormy Daniels saga. Whilst I think the charges about election fraud are bogus and will be over turned by a higher court I do not believe his actions are related to his duties as the President. In this case I hope the SC will trow that out whilst also throwing the charges of election fraud out as bootstrapping. Edited by Badger11 (02 Jul 2024 9.06am) I presume he used protection.

After the debate last week where the actor playing Biden did a career-best performance in portraying a car-crash serving president, (not to mention him soiling himself in France the week before!) the next phase of the movie ( and I've been telling you all for years, that's all it is, a movie ) will feature an engineered heart attack. Not a real one. 'Cos none of this is real.

Back to the dissenting opinion the more I think about the example the judge gave the odder it seems. Trump trying to use immunity for his personal tax affairs would be a good example of over reach by the President. Instead she gave us Trump using navy seals to assassinate someone as an over reach, it's actually a terrible example because it is within the president's duties. During WW2 the US assassinated Yamamoto the master mind behind Pearl Harbour, everybody cheered that one. Recently Obama said "we got him" to great applause after Bin Laden was killed by Navy Seals. So in certain circumstances the President does have the right. There is a great episode of he West Wing called We Killed Yamamoto which Martin Sheen after much agonising orders the assassination of an Arab leader and so called ally of the US because he is secretly funding terrorism. This show was a Democrat wet dream but even they could find a scenario which was plausible. So sorry judge I get your point but a poor example. Edited by Badger11 (02 Jul 2024 10.13am) Disagree, it was a very apposite example. What she actually said was that a President could now assassinate a political rival, and be protected immunity. Not order the assassination of a foreign enemy. I suspect she used seals as a way of pointing up the severity of the new situation. Which is appalling. I hope that some quiet reflection is now going on behind closed doors because if this is not corrected there will be major problems ahead. I have always thought John Roberts to be a wise and thoughtful Justice not given to being swayed by political pressure but only by the Constitution. So I have to wonder what has changed him.

As far as I can tell it isn't. And what has been happening is the Democratic incumbent stretching the definitions of the law in order to prosecute Trump. Edited by ASCPFC (02 Jul 2024 2.33pm)

I wonder if Biden is clinging to power because he’s petrified of being prosecuted for criminal acts he allegedly committed during his time as vice-president when he peddled cash for access/influence through his son to enrich the Biden family to the tune of +$60m. This probably explains why his wife and wider family are all encouraging him to remain in office when he should be licking ice cream on a park bench. You can already write the script. He’ll finally be forced to quit, be prosecuted and then suddenly play the mental incapacity card. “I’m too gaga to face trial…”.

Of course, it's plain stupid. That's the point! But stupid or not it's now the law. That example won't ever become real but others could which are every bit as stupid. It must be recognised and reversed or the consequences could be civil war.
