Why would that happen if they were not all far happier milking the PL,as the Mail likes to see it, than not at all.? It was not the Mail who made that comment but a reader in the comments section

As I said on here before this was always going to be the appointment as its the cheapest option with the least ambition. It will be interesting to see what happens. I suspect that the turn in fortunes when Roy took over again was more to do with just how bad things were under Vieria and the new manager bounce. Roy came into a very favourable run of fixtures, beat some really poor sides and mostly struggled against anybody above mid table. I'll support him though and just hope that he's supported in the transfer market... But the fact we've offered Ward, Clyne and Ferguson new deals I suspect it will be the case of sticking plasters over cuts that need stitching... A bit like this appointment really.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

It was a difficult call, but sad we've missed out on Potter. There is no guarantee Potter would of been a success at Palace, he did look lost at Chelsea, he hasnt actually achieved or won anything.

Roy is a better and more capable manager than any other manager we could currently get. He is obviously not a manager for the future but the best we can get right now. I am more than happy with the appointment.

Agree with that, it’s that simple, all available have had more downs than ups, Potter , kept Brighton in the league, the only one possibly worth a gamble. Not nailed on.

Appreciate I'm going to sound a bit like a broken record here but. Arne Slot signed a one year extension at Feynoord a couple of months ago. Could he be our option next year? We were linked with him.

As Chelsea found out he was vastly overated at Brighton that did more than enough to give him the tools to do better than annual relegation scraps as the new guy proved . Dodged a bullet there me thinks if there was any truth in it . Roy H is trusted by most ,me included to ensure a stress free end of season .Not sure what the cut off point will be though 77 -78 will he still be here at 85 ?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

The Mail might as well have said “ that goes for the whole of the bottom half of the Premiership table” Try telling that to the teams that got relegated, it’s going to be a long way back for Southampton next season, they would much rather be in our shoes!

The interest for me this pre season is which youngsters Roy seeks to retain for the first team squad as opposed to sending out on loan.
