Forest Hillbilly Flag in a hidey-hole 12 Feb 22 5.57pm Send a Private Message to Forest Hillbilly Add Forest Hillbilly as a friend

Most western democracies work on a 4 to 5 year cycle, based on forthcoming General Election dates.
This is one of the main issues for a lack of longer-term planning.

Countries try their best to deal with issues as they arise, rather than having a longer-term strategy. (look at the electric car thread, as an example)

Covid has reduced the pension-burden on tax-payers, but there are huge deficits in the NHS and a huge pit of debt created by the distribution of £B's to fraudulent contractors.

I disengage, I turn the page.

It is amusing when someone who constantly complains about being "posted at" does it all the time, isn't it? Especially when all I ever do is comment on things that have been posted, or defend myself against personal attacks.

If I remember correctly PA wasn't raised by me as a talking point...I actually tried to avoid that. Bluejay decided he wanted to focus upon them because the great replacement had been mentioned. They are hardly the only group or indeed individual who has stated the obvious. Bluejay wanted to discuss his particular interest area and try his usual tactic of referring to neo Nazis when what happened eighty years ago in Germany has no relevance to Britain's future.

PA wasn't "raised" by me either. Merely cited as an example of the type of group posting in the dark corners of the web. Which Gab and Telegram certainly are, by any normal understanding. That's where you will find things like "the great replacement" theory discussed.

Youtube is hardly a 'dark corner of the Internet' and PA are a legal organisation whose website you yourself linked to. Several lies about them have been spread, specifically that they support violence. I have no desire to make this a PA thread but falsehoods and smears have to be countered.

By your own words, 'making assertions', you just described yourself.

YouTube is mainstream and has many useful things on it. It also is used by dodgy people, and that was what I wrote. I wrote about dodgy YouTubers, not about YouTube itself. So once again we have an assertion made because something is not read correctly. These dodgy videos need to be found, just as posts on Gab and Telegram need to be, by those searching for them. Hence, the claim it's in the dark. Of course PA is careful not to openly support violence. They would be proscribed should they do so. It's their members who do that.

So apparently the logic of Ponzi systems has to be proved to you to accept it.

Sigh....apparently a former sales and marketing manager can't understand the basics of a Ponzi system.

Oh I see....immigration isn't being used for the purposes of increasing tax take.

I understand how a Ponzi scheme works only too well. I have known people badly conned by them on two occasions, me having tried hard to dissuade them from "investing". So the contrary seems true. There is no logic at all in the idea that immigration is being used to increase tax take. That any taxpayer increases the tax take is obviously true, but the idea that this is a Ponzi scheme and the purpose of immigration is nuts.

Now some of what you say is true, there are other factors, whether we agree with them or not.

However, that doesn't change the basic reality that increasing the size of the population via immigration doesn't work economically....it's short term gain for massively harder loss for future generations....for the previously stated reasons.

The fact that you are willing to argue against the even basic reality is just your MO.

There simply is no "basic reality" in the assertion that "increasing the size of the population via immigration doesn't work economically".

It may, or it may not. It depends on how it is managed and how the new citizens are received and absorbed. If they are, as many are, determined to work hard and build a good life for themselves it can easily build a stronger economy. As an example look at the Indians who arrived here after WW2 and especially the wave from East Africa in the 1970s. They have a work ethic, want their children to study hard and do well. How often do we see a NHS doctor from this community?

This isn't a short-term gain at all. It is an enrichment in many ways, including economically. Our next possible PM, currently Chancellor, and economically very successful, comes from this background.

Maybe PA would offer him an incentive to "go home".

He knows that I only replied because he refused to stop posting at me. What kind of sado does that.

There is no reason why he can't post comments without replying to me.

Due to this guy being obsessed with me and refusing to have the common decency to stop posting at me.....Everytime he does post at me instead of replying to him I will post what he is instead.

Obviously if you disagree with the findings of the EHRC report on the Labour Party, as anti semites Corbyn, Burgon and their fellow travellers did, then most of foregoing will simply be dismissed."

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

There is no practical way to do this when your comment is specifically to refute another. Posting this without the ability to highlight the point being addressed would simply confuse any reader, or demand a totally unnecessary explanation just to placate an over-sensitive member.

If I got upset every time one of my comments was responded to I would spend my life being upset. I stopped throwing my toys out of my pram 75 years ago.

Seeking the ideal, whilst keeping your feet on the ground, is the sensible approach. We need to aim high, whilst maintaining caution.

Assuming current trends, even if accurately interpreted, which they aren't, will continue, has no basis at all in reality. It's scaremongering as a fig leaf to cover a particularly nasty type of racism. This quote, from an analysis of the "Great Replacement" serves as a warning to us all:-

"Of all the swivel-eyed conspiracies shambling through the more squalid reaches of the internet, the Great Replacement has proved uniquely powerful. Its doctrine of survival is a captivating persuasion tactic for people bent on drawing more people to the cause of white supremacy. It crams children into cages in detention centres, and it puts guns in the hands of men wishing to exorcise their bloody power fantasies. And it veils the real operation of violence, recasting terrorism as heroism and tyranny as the tactical necessities of self-defence."

You can read the whole piece here:-

[Link]

Some will seek to dismiss the criticism because the source of this is "leftist", as though that makes it automatically invalid.

Read the analysis. Forget who published it.

Then, maybe, this will be answered, rather than ignored:- "How many people did your parents know who had a partner who was born aboard? Compare that with how many you know."

Oh yes, why use statistics to extrapolate an outcome when you can just go on a hyperbolic rant inserting buzz words to avoid properly disproving it.

From the man who is so lost in his own lies that he can't even admit to himself that these kinds of posts are the witterings of a lefty mouthpiece.

Yes, I blame myself for this. Poor communication of thoughts.
So, by way of clarification...

People voted Tory in the last election in their droves for a whole multitude of reasons. Some I am aligned with such as front bench, pragmatic, liberal policies. Some because they were not Corbyn's Labour - I also approve for what it's worth. Some as they saw the populist right take hold of the party and were allied to the policy of getting Brexit done. Clearly divergence there.

However, BJ couldn't run a whelk store and, as a statesman, he is an international embarrassment who has little currency since openly lying to his Parliament and people and being caught doing it; but people are still attracted to him. What does that say about their intellect?

Sir Keir Starmer now widely tipped to be the next tory leader.

He thinks all wars are automatically good and NATO is a defensive organisation.

He also thinks, incredibly, that brexit has opportunities, but of course hasn't a clue what they might be.

Rees Mogg has been chucked, brexit is the chiltern hundreds from now on.

That new brexit job, its the eastern front for you my man.

Ever heard of the phrase "lies, damn lies and statistics"?

Your "statistics" prove nothing at all, except what is claimed to be happening now. What will happen in the future is not just unknown, it's unknowable. I won't repeat all the reasons why. Just go back and see if you can work that out for yourself.

The "great replacement" is 100% fear-mongering propaganda. Designed to wind up the simple-minded, gullible or racist among us. Who-ever falls for it needs to take a long hard look at themselves and their own attitudes because they fit one of those categories.

How come you know so much about brexit being bad then as that's in the future.
You clearly don't as its 'unknowable'!
