I don’t think they’ve appointed anyone but my gut feeling is that it will be Cooper or Ismael.

I think it really all depends on who signs a new deal. If we just lost say Sakho, Wickham, PvA, and McCarthy and signed a few new younger first-team ready players we would actually already be stronger given three of them have barely played all season and one has had very patchy form. I agree that if the majority of the players out of contract leave we are screwed, but I honestly think the likes of Schlupp, Townsend and Bentenke will sign new deals. Say we got Gallagher on loan, he is an instant upgrade on the perennially injured McCarthy, while anyone who can play more than 10 minutes is an upgrade on Sakho and Wickham. Eze undoubtedly is a big blow and of course there is always the Zaha question, but I actually think the club are pretty stable and all this panic is just among the fans due to the lack of factual information. The centre backs are too old and or injury prone. Ward defends the penalty area well but beyond that doesn’t offer enough. Clyne has been underwhelming. McArthur 34 and increasingly injury prone, Riedewald not good enough, Kouyate has legs but limited creativity, Luka’s legs have gone, Townsend has quality but inconsistent and can’t manage a full season, Benteke can’t be trusted based on the last two and a half years, Ayew is another year older and more laboured. Schlupp lengthy injuries last two seasons. Wilf has lost pace and doesn’t want to be here. I don’t like Gallagher much from what I’ve seen of him either. Maybe you’re right and I’m looking at it too negatively but not many have pulled up any trees this season and most seem in terminal decline or not good enough.

I said perhaps and he's played a bit more than half a dozen decent games. Reece Hannam also seems to be highly rated. LB taken care of...

Not sure, after the last few games, you can confidently state Ward defends the penalty area well

LB taken care of... Plus Schlupp and Riedewald can and have provided decent cover. LB and GK are about the only two positions I feel fine about. Now to just sort out the other 9

If, as has been mooted on here, Lampard is our next manager and has signed a three year deal, there is absolutely no tangible reason, whatsoever, to delay the announcement. The bottom line is that only the club are ITK - they won’t leak anything and everything on here is just heresay, speculation, hope, despair and/or prediction. Just like my 50 years of supporting the club. Edited by Helmet46 (25 May 2021 9.07am) A poster on the bbs (cpfcdan1) is convinced it's Lampard and it will be announced today or tomorrow.
