Goodness grief.
There is discussion about a possible successor to Roy Hodgson when he has a contract until the end of the season,we have only played 10 PL games and are hardly struggling in the relegation zone.

I don't sense that Roy Hodgson is under any pressure and given his record at the club, there is faith in him to preserve our PL status.

I won't be holding back if it's another sh1t performance. Nor will plenty of others.

Should we be defeated on the back of an abject performance I am sure there will be vesuvian eruptions with nostrils flared like angry bullocks.
HOL will be a boil akin to burning milk with Roy Hodgson on the end of unrelenting invective and facing shot and shell.

There are rumblings now, and eventually there will be a full fan reaction. The results are not good enough, combined with a style from yesteryear. I'm surprised we use Inside Forwards, I thought this too fashionable. Anything to remain narrow and track back, I guess. Nil all will not placate me this week.

I accept two exceedingly disappointing results against Burnley and Newcastle.
Against Burnley we dominated the second half and just never took our chances and of course we gifted them an early goal.
Againt Newcastle, apart from the first 20 mins we were the better side but once again we had problems in front of goal and individually we were found wanting in defence for their goals.

We have an aged squad with many players in the 'Twilight' of their careers and past their peak.We lack vibrancy and energy and of course our failings in front of goal have been well documented.
We cannot play open, expansive football that perhaps many of our supporters crave.

As for giving youth a chance, here's an extract from an Everton fanzine '' Sam Allardyce has never had a reputation for giving youth a chance to play at the various stops of his bottom-feeding managerial career.''

Tomas Frank is doing some good work in the Championship backed by a scouting model that has much to be admired. What he doesn't have is a track record of dealing with a highly experienced Premier League players or opponents.

Referring to Big Sam I think the original poster is getting at the old school managers do use players strengths talent and very good at motivating plus like to control whats happening at the club (Roy has had no interest in any of those hes old but remember he was part of the chummy FA so has switched)

Just listen to Big Sam speak he is complete opposite of Roy he clearly states ball must go forward keeping the ball and side or back passing is waste of time it only increases stats nothing else.

People like to accuse many managers of not giving youth a chance Roy was the same he was forced into having to otherwise he wouldn't of and I can understand why some managers wouldn't if you at a club with a lot of talented players why would you leave them out you want to win,

the other thing is you need to have the talented youth to begin with to play if it was so easy everyone would be doing it.

Frank has been forced into that position which is why he is doing it like that if you had giving him lots of £ to spend he would be doing just that and correct it's all well doing it for a short time in Championship with a team that doesn't have great expectations but stepping up to best league in the world then dealing with these players is different matter

Whilst I am confident that our manager and players will ensure Premiership status next season I follow your point about the squad. Watching several games over this weekend what struck me was the speed at which most teams play and more importantly move the ball forward. It would appear that our ageing squad whilst they have the quality and know how due to their age cannot move forward as well as they might have done in their earlier years. This is now catching up with us and reducing our ability to play the football our fans wish for. For me until the squad is overhauled this will not change and may even get worse. Roy understands the situation and any change in manager at this time would be suicidal. To give the fans what they want we need both managerial and player change.

I garland these comments with praise.

Allardyce has a track record of looking for new technologies and trying to be on the cutting edge.

Roy knows one way of doing things and cannot/will not change

It's almost like there is an unconscious bias in the south where we think all northern are thick for appearing ruff and ready, whilst all southerners are smart for being polite and quietly spoken.

Really rough and ready northerners came up with the innovations that built the British Empire using southerners money.

Unless Reidewald, McCarthy, or Meyer are on the pitch we don't really have the ability in midfield to pass, let alone the fitness. Especially when we are limiting ourselves to a midfield pair that get overrun.
