We then moved to standing in the Arthur and managed to create quite a bit of noise. For some reason we went to the wilderness of the Whitehorse Lane end for a while, did get a good view of Richard Shaw goading Cantona into going mental. Then back to the LH 23 years ago. I have grown used to the end view and like it but the LH for me is really about the atmosphere. Mind you I am bang in the middle, bang in the middle. Best seats in the house. And I AIN'T MOVING! Are you buying the club? I hope you actually build the new stand.

One of the factors here is whether or not people who love to sit behind the goal actually want a side-on view of the match, which is, obviously, very different from end-on. Personally, after years of standing behind the goal on the old Holmesdale terracing, I hated it when I had to go and sit in the Arthur whilst the new stand was built, and was never more pleased than when I went back to a seat in the LH, more or less where we used to stand (and back with the family group too). From behind the goal you get a great view of the pattern of the game from end to end - not the best when they are up the far end, but still able to see what's happening(goals confirmed by the Sainsbury's end rising to their feet!). You just don't get that view of the passing pattern and the spread of the game from side-on. No idea how many others actually involved will feel the same, but I'd put money on not being alone in this preference. You could call it a personal preference. I’ve never seen any managers sit in the home end upper or lower tier to watch the first half, all main stands are along the side of the pitch, and prices are nearly always cheaper behind the goal. I hear what you mean about seeing the pattern of passes, whereas I would call it the layout of both teams and the positioning at any moment, although you get used to this side on, so much so that you can see where the player receiving the ball can pass to once he’s able to pass. Players should be able to know where their teammates are also. Wayne Rooney may be a Neanderthal but it’s well known he has a great picture in his head of where people are and angles of people and passes. He doesn’t need to face from a certain angle and neither do the managers. You’ll get used to it, as long as it’s not too near the front. Actually from behind the goal you can sometimes not appreciate when a sprint or ball in front of a player is beyond them whereas you can with a side on view. You also can’t see clever forward moves as well behind the goal vs a side on view. Edited by Rudi Hedman (15 Nov 2018 4.47pm)

If I gave you the impression by saying that I ain't moving that I actually live at the ground, or intend to do so, I apologise. I feel that the mortgage on such a property may be slightly beyond my means. I have in fact merely purchased the leasehold of my seat, in advance, for another year. Should anyone try to renege on that arrangement I intend to release the Hounds of Hell. Sorry, I didn't mean to give you an impression that I take a dog to the match. I know you can take things a little literally. This was merely a metaphor.

I hope the E400 get a good deal out of this, but if you’re required to

Any idea what the criteria is for being accepted into the "singing" section? An apprenticeship at the ENO perchance? Admitting that you likes Pavarotti? Or that you did a pissed up karaoke version of "What's Love Got To Do With It" while on holiday in Magaluf?

Are you going to a) borrow John Gl*****’s tank decorated in Palace colours? b) chain yourself to your seat in May? c) secretly film Parish in his hotel room with SR and demand your seat? d) make him an offer he can’t refuse, with Jordan behind you and The Long Good Friday theme music playing?
