That is a very good point, even during the losing games against the top teams, we showed enough.

Agreed to a point. We were abysmal against arsenal and Chelsea could've put us to the sword, but otherwise we lost those games only by late goals. Man u, we pissed three points down the drain from a strong position. Sigh..

Agreed, I'm a stayer but he's really done my head in this year. This from a self-confessed pessemist.

I understand the thrust of your argument.

That said, after the Chelsea game (when we had lost 4 games in succession conceding 9 goals) if someone had uttered that we would win 3 of the next 6 games there might have been some who questioned this judgement.

Thank goodness I never predicted we would be sitting 11th at this point - I would have been accused of spouting total and utter hogwash ! A brilliant turnaround in fortunes.

Some people did (although I was not one of them). The difference being that they backed it up with some rudimentary analysis.

There was a post earlier on in this thread that answers all the questions of how mathematically safe we are ... have a butchers at the below.

I’m not Willo in disguise... promise.
I was checking out the palace thread at the stoke forum and came across this regarding Palace. They really don’t like us do they!! Lol

Won’t happen!!!

Probably they're already safe, but ... this could happen ...
0.00174% risk ...

Watford -18 42p
Saints -15 41p
Bmouth -18 41p
Swansea -23 39p
----------------------------
Crystal P -19 38p
Stoke C -32 33p
West Brom -22 31p

That table is hilarious, suddenly teams that can’t buy a win are going to win all their remaining games! Also were are Brighton and Huddersfield?

He doesn’t do my head in at all. It’s just really boring and everyone feeding him with posts to carry on far from help.

It’s been quite obvious for a while that if Zaha stays fit, we stay up. We might stay up without him with Roy steering the ship after accumulating some points beforehand but then again we might not. At some point this needs addressing.

These are probably the only circumstances in which we can go down.

40 points for any team is mathematically safe, 39 points for us bar a massive loss to either Stoke or WBA is safe for us.

On this basis we just need 1 point and we are home and hosed although I still think our chances of staying up with 38 are pretty good.

Of all those scenarios it's Huddersfield getting 4 points from Citeh, Chelsea & Arsenal that I find most unlikely.

Is the previous poster sure as Watford are now in the mix, CP g/diff is the best and how many of these teams play each other ?

Trust RH they must have studied it in detail.

Agreed they are in the mix but in a very similar situation to us, albeit with worse goal difference. A draw for them at the weekend probably sees them safe too, but below us if we get a point.
