I believe violence is violence, trespass is trespass and murder is murder and those who commit them should be treated and sentenced the same!

However it gets legally defined it was an unacceptable attack, for unacceptable reasons, on the seat of government. Those orchestrating it deserve severe punishment, those encouraging it likewise. Those caught up in the emotion, or mislead by all the bs, less so. Show them mercy and understanding by all means but not on those behind it and that trail ends at only one door. Is that Nancy Pelosi for not providing sufficient security at a well publicized volatile rally!!! No need to respond as the comment is broadly tongue in cheek!

I'm fine with that as long as it works both ways. We had a year of BLM attacks across the US how many of them got similar sentences.

The problem is not the desire but the means to achieve it. If it was easy it would have been done. Promising unrealistic ideas, like for instance “returning them to France” are just hooks for the gullible. Populist bs! A spokesperson for the German interior ministry on Friday told Rudaw's Znar Shino that Germany deported 222 Iraqi citizens in the first three months of 2024 - 169 of which were sent back to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and 53 to other countries from which the migrants had come from. In accordance with the principle of international law, according to which every state is obliged to take back its own citizens informally if they have no right to residence in the host country. Perhaps Germany have woken up to the support for the AFD and have found out that they do have powers to deport. The same as Biden suddenly wants to close the southern border. Still, the UK Government doesn’t do the same as it knows what is best for us.

They don’t get many illegals now and I think it’s difficult to get a legal entry without jumping through hoops.

Remember though, it wasn't just what happened on 6th Jan. There was the famous comment re Georgia of finding X thousand votes, the legal challenges that were bought -all utterly spurious - and the failure to accept the result. Also, I believe from what I have read that the info in Jack Smith's hands and potentially to be bought as evidence - if the case ever goes to court - is that the plans associated with 6th Jan had Trump's hands all over them; put it all together and what should be concluded? That 'famous' comment, has to be interpreted how you prefer to interpret it to be illegal. Trump said he meant find the votes that he had been defrauded out of...sashed away or destroyed. I can well believe he thought that. As for this claim that Trump didn't accept the result. Yes he did. If Trump didn't accept the result then why did he vacate the White House. What he did was contest the election result upon the basis that it was illegal and wasn't fair....Well that's no different to what Democrats did after the 2016 election. Hiliary Clinton is on recorded media several times calling Trump illegitimate and saying that Russia were behind his election......something the Democrats wasted tens of millions of taxpayer money on to find no evidence for....because they made it up. Clinton stated something she knows every opponent government does....including hers on interfering in foreign elections and she massively enlarged its importance and connected it to Trump. The Democrats under Obama spent five billion on a successful coup in Ukraine, overturning Ukraine's democratic government and then have the cheek to complain about election interference that amounted to a few web pages and memes.

Biden confirms he will stay in the 2024 presidential race and participate in the second debate in September. In my opinion he only resigns if the donors pull the election campaigning money....and even then I don't see how they stop Harris from taking the job. If I were advising both candidates I'd ensure that their security teams were extremely watchful from now on.

Not quite the same as pakistan deporting every single Afghanistani in the country is it.....Or India kicking out every British person....regardless of how long their families had been there in 1947.

That “system” is called the law. Something that applies to all where you can provide your defence and to be proven guilty must have your accusers clear a very high bar. Attacking the very soul of democracy is something not to be brushed aside as though it was a Sunday school outing that saw a teacup broken on the vicar’s lawn.

I'm fine with that as long as it works both ways. We had a year of BLM attacks across the US how many of them got similar sentences. The so called BLM attacks were in response to perceived police racism and were at State, not Federal level. Investigating and prosecuting those involved was done, or not done, locally. The attack on Jan 6th was on the centre of power on democracy itself. Therefore on an entirely different scale.

So it’s alleged but the scale compared to our problem is tiny. I imagine that doing it would have been rather easier than trying to do anything similar with France. The only reports I can find involve much bigger vessels and longer distances than the overcrowded ribs crossing the channel. What they did succeed in doing was offshore processing in PNG. We don’t have a convenient PNG.
