Of course they can have an opinion. They do. They have many, often conflicting, opinions.

It’s how our representatives behave that is questioned. Do they represent, or do they follow? If the latter we can save a lot of money and just hold on line polling on everything!

There are enough people in this country that want an end to uncontrolled illegal immigration. It hasn’t happened yet so our elected officials must think we need uncontrolled illegal immigration. They serve our best interests according to you, but clearly they don’t if Farage can mobilise support to do what parliament can’t by heading a ‘new’ party to try and do so. The unpopular situation is countered by a popular one; but that’s bad according to you.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

If I watch the left wing media (which I have in the last 48 hours to watch the Joe meltdown) it’s an everyday watch.

I certainly don’t want to play down the severity of the incident but the level of violence was nothing short of an old fashioned bank holiday dust up and nowhere near a BLM fracas, Brixton or poll tax riot etc!!

I do not recall a million years of prison sentences being handed out in these incidents!! Certainly charges are needed but as everything in US politics there seem equalities in how punishments are determined!

Trying to force entry? Climb through windows? Pushing back guards? Entering private offices and chanting about stringing up Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence?

That wasn’t tame milling around! There was a lot of violence.

I watched it live at the time and on all of the different media since. It was nowhere near, for instance, a farmer's protest in France - let alone much of a riot. There was chanting and calls but isolated real violence. The Brixton riots were far more violent, for example, or the LA riots. Most 80s football matches were worse.

It is noted that now the mainstream are openly questioning Biden's fitness for office. Articles are being written in Democratic media, like Time, New York Times and most all sources that Biden isn't up to his role.

However, this has been what...these same people have called the 'far right' have been saying loudly since 2019. They were the ones telling the truth.

Yet the Democrats and their allies were willing to lie and distort to the public for years....and all their media outlets lied with them to go along with it. They curated Biden's appearances, ensured he had as soft a questions as possible and kept him away from scrutiny as much as possible.

This wasn't managing a sweet shop, this is the most important job in the world and affects all of us.

When you're manipulating and lying to retain power you no longer have a moral right to it.

That isn't of course held to anywhere within our money-power world. But we should have a media which holds politicians to the ethics they preach but don't live.

As I've said for years, people should have to live their principles.

It shows you exactly what these people are.

All true. Except the last paragraph.

This was a very small part of the overall charges and although technically a loss won’t have any significant impact.

I cannot though seeing the Supreme Court, even as presently constituted, attempting to suggest that the Jan 6th events were made up by the Democrats. They would totally destroy any credibility should that happen it’s so clearly untrue.

Was it a riot or an insurrection or a protest that got out of hand.

The democrats have said this was an insurrection the SC I believe will have to rule on this (I don't think they have yet). If they rule this was not an insurrection then quite a number of charges will have to be set aside.

For my mind it was a riot but I have heard constitutional experts argue both sides it seems the SC will have to provide a legal definition of an insurrection.

Remember though, it wasn't just what happened on 6th Jan. There was the famous comment re Georgia of finding X thousand votes, the legal challenges that were bought -all utterly spurious - and the failure to accept the result. Also, I believe from what I have read that the info in Jack Smith's hands and potentially to be bought as evidence - if the case ever goes to court - is that the plans associated with 6th Jan had Trump's hands all over them; put it all together and what should be concluded?

There are many different charges being labeled at Trump but I think comments are specific to the “January 6th riots”. Almost 500 people have been imprisoned for up to 20 years terms.

In the liberal society we live in at present that does seem excessive versus the crime!!!

Slap on the wrist is normally sufficient thee days!!

I think everyone in our country wants an end to uncontrolled illegal immigration. That’s an uncontroversial universal desire, which nobody, elected official or not, disagrees with. The problem is not the desire but the means to achieve it. If it was easy it would have been done. Promising unrealistic ideas, like for instance “returning them to France” are just hooks for the gullible. Populist bs!

Do you not think that attacking a seat of government, in an attempt to stop the verification of a democratic election by the elected representatives, threatening extreme violence, using some violence and forcing the suspension of the democratic process and the retreat of the representatives to an inner sanctum, sets this apart from anything else?

I believe violence is violence, trespass is trespass and murder is murder and those who commit them should be treated and sentenced the same!

However it gets legally defined it was an unacceptable attack, for unacceptable reasons, on the seat of government. Those orchestrating it deserve severe punishment, those encouraging it likewise. Those caught up in the emotion, or mislead by all the bs, less so. Show them mercy and understanding by all means but not on those behind it and that trail ends at only one door.
