The Mail rarely do not fail to take digs at Palace. They make it sound like it’s a crime not to risk another managerial trier
The crime would be ,14,000 punters watching a Palace team trying to beat Rotherham on a damp cold November Saturday after relegation to the Championship, the result of being silly enough to to give a monkeys what the Mail thinks.

On one hand this could be down to a lack of other decent options out there, or a positive spin would be Roy has earned another year and Paddy gets some more experience with the first team. Whatever the case we never seemed to show any serious interest in anyone else. Like many I imagine there is some concern of a return to the dull days of before, but hopefully while Roy has earned our faith and trust maybe the players have also earned his too and shown they can match most teams by playing on the front foot and not just using a low block and 25% possession. Only time will tell.

Welcome back (again) R&R. May we climb to new heights.

Palace not bothering with the long term, just want to milk the premier league cow for as long as possible.

No such thing as a long-term manager, hasn't been since at least the turn of the century. There are only coaches, working with what the club give them, and each season is a discreet project of its own as far as any sensible 'manager' is concerned.

Dougie is the long-term presence and planner.

The statement applies to most clubs. Managers only last about 2 years so there is no long term.

Whilst there is truth in what you say other managers that only last two years are either sacked if they don't do well or are poached by a bigger club if they do whereas our appointment is short term whether he does well or not due to his advanced age

True, but I nevertheless prefer the calm certainty of having Roy in post now to a summer of trying to convince a younger, exciting, yet proven manager to join us only to find that, like players, the managers we have as our first choice will only join us if they themselves cannot secure their own first choice positions elsewhere.

At least it seems like we got our first-choice pick this summer.

It was a difficult call, but sad we've missed out on Potter.
He would have moulded us into a very good team that could have achieved something.
Roy did a great job keeping us in the Premier last season.

14 premier league managers, got sacked in the premier league last season . 20 clubs 14 sackings.
Why would that happen if they were not all far happier milking the PL,as the Mail likes to see it, than not at all.? All kicking some sort of can down the road because they will do this season on season, as the number is rarely less than eight or nine, and the problem of relegation is always there.
A year with Hodgson is as reliable as a year with any of those available if that’s kicking the can down the road, then our can just has a different label to the others.

Is that wrong then?

I like that. The management team will do no worse than any other and due to their knowledge of the players will probably get us off to a faster start than if we had an entirely new management team. Looking forward to a top ten finish but they will need some extra players to achieve it. COYP

Keeping my powder dry on this until something goes wrong and we get to see how the management reacts to adversity. Hopefully the response won’t be the same as the last time.
