Left back!? Definitely need reinforcements there....we're essentially relying on a kid who's played a handful of decent games. I said perhaps and he's played a bit more than half a dozen decent games. Reece Hannam also seems to be highly rated.

I must admit I'm somewhat surprised/concerned. I had thought that Parish had known for some time that Roy was going and would have already sorted out his replacement and if so would be announcing the new manager today. As that hasn't happened I can only assume one of two things. Whatever the case, things are clearly unresolved and this is most worrying, as there is much to do and we need a new manager in place asap to start tackling the rebuilding process. Let's hope for some positive news in the next few days. I think you are correct. I suspect Thomas Frank is the number 1 choice, then Steve Cooper. Failing that Pep Guardiola. I would hope that their agents have already been approached but we will need to wait until after 29 May for the announcement.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Agree with this. There are huge question marks over almost every area of the playing squad except, perhaps, goalkeeper and left back. We look in a proper mess. I think it really all depends on who signs a new deal. If we just lost say Sakho, Wickham, PvA, and McCarthy and signed a few new younger first-team ready players we would actually already be stronger given three of them have barely played all season and one has had very patchy form. I agree that if the majority of the players out of contract leave we are screwed, but I honestly think the likes of Schlupp, Townsend and Bentenke will sign new deals. Say we got Gallagher on loan, he is an instant upgrade on the perennially injured McCarthy, while anyone who can play more than 10 minutes is an upgrade on Sakho and Wickham. Eze undoubtedly is a big blow and of course there is always the Zaha question, but I actually think the club are pretty stable and all this panic is just among the fans due to the lack of factual information.

If, as has been mooted on here, Lampard is our next manager and has signed a three year deal, there is absolutely no tangible reason, whatsoever, to delay the announcement. The bottom line is that only the club are ITK - they won’t leak anything and everything on here is just heresay, speculation, hope, despair and/or prediction. Just like my 50 years of supporting the club. Edited by Helmet46 (25 May 2021 9.07am)

Is it significant that he is cutting ties with Morris? Now there's a thought.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

The club probably know the identity of the new manager but have chosen not to announce it yet.

I doubt that there has been any appointment yet as that's just not the Palace way. It would be like us signing players early in a transfer window. Rarely happens - we like to take it to the wire and beyond. We everyone on the beach we will probably just wait for a bit before giving the job to Dougie and Shaun.

I suspect, quite honestly, if there is no announcement today, it's because they haven't appointed anyone yet. No way could they confirm a new manager from a club in the Play-off final prior to it being played. I doubt there is much incentive for said manager to join Palace if their current club ultimately wins the final & gets promoted. Edited by Mstrobez (25 May 2021 10.05am)
