Well some of us have been there, done that and now just like to go and watch the match without singing or shouting. Doesn't mean we're not passionate about our team though!

May as well be in a seat and stand up for goal attacks.

My understanding was the club promised to look into the possibility of moving them. It wasn't possible (for reasons mentioned several times in this thread) which somehow resulted in a stand off/flout which has achieved nothing positive.

It's not just about moving people from their seats, it's the knock-on effect. If Block E was mainly standing then D & F would need to stand to see certain areas of the pitch. If D & F stand then C & G would need to stand to see certain areas of the pitch eventually leading to the entire Lower Holmesdale having to stand at times - just not workable. For years a blind eye has been turned to the fact that SP allows B to stand as it's both contained and (relatively) controlled & that wouldn't be the case if the change was made.

Expansion in the corners, waiting for safe standing areas or even the redevelopment are realistic options but it seems these are not acceptable to the HF.

It's a real shame because, whatever your thoughts on them, they will be missed.

Based upon the post on cpfc.org, and my perceptions of how it was dealt with by the club. I can't help but think that there was always going to be backlash about it (and rightly so), but the way the club dealt with it before, during and after painted the HF and the situation in a much more negative light, than it should've been. After the incident in the morning (can't remember which game it was), it seemingly was just retracted and never explained, which lead people to pretty much slag off the HF without any evidence at the time. If that was me, I'd be pretty pissed at the club.

I do think the way the HF have handled it has been poor, and completely OTT, but I think the fact it was dealt with sensitively by the club towards all parties played a big role in this. If they'd accepted some of the blame, I don't think the HF would've disbanded, which is a massive shame. As you say, they should've and could've easily waited for the stadium expansion for this, but the club could've easily said that and struck a deal there.

I love the atmosphere they generate. The debate on how much the teams performance relies on it is debatable.
Clueless commentators;say selhurst is a difficult place to come to for opposing teams - results say differently.
But... We have survived all this time in the Top flight.
I truly, think that, that is down to the atmosphere they led. Anyone on here who thinks that atmosphere can be replicated, is living in dream land.
What I'm trying to say is - after all these years of survival. How ironic would it be, if we went down this season?

Also, seating behind the goal? Has anybody sat there? The view is s***. Watching a game through the nets, is frustrating.
Anyone, who buys a season ticket there must be mad.
Those seats would be perfect for HF.
As someone pointed out earlier- half of them don't even watch the game.

Personally I don't think that's true at all. It wasn't that long ago that we couldn't buy a win at home despite the so called wonderful atmosphere.

Roy Keane lambasted the 'prawn sandwich brigade' many years ago for killing the atmosphere at English football grounds. Generally, as the football has got better and better in the Premier League, the atmosphere has got worse. Palace has been an exception to that, in large part due to the HF. I sit in the upper Holmesdale and I love the singing, the drum and the flags. I know some on here dislike the HF but there's no disputing that we have a unique atmosphere in English football.

However, the difference was really noticeable on Monday night. The Independent said that it was like an orchestra without a conductor. It would be terrible to become a boring, passionless stadium like Arsenal, so I would implore both the club and the HF to get together and sort this issue out.

That was my point ME... I was talking about the reality of still being in this league, not the amount of games we won at home.
I do believe tho, the atmosphere they generated helped with us still being here.

I don't see how they can sort it out as all season tickets are sold so there wont be a block available large enough for them to gather. Its the end of an era and the Club is worse off for it. Whether you liked them or not, the HF gave our club a unique identity that was the envy of all opposing fans. It is now gone. A real shame.

Just because there aren’t any available doesn’t mean they’re sold out. There were a fair few seats available in B for Saints & Newcastle when they went on sale.
