I can assure you that if we stave off relegation(Which is highly probable that we will) I will be grinning like a Colgate toothpaste model and sobriety will certainly NOT be on the agenda !

It is extremely misleading to say that we didn't win in previous games to our present run, as an example of how form can change.
Take aside our injury list, the fixtures concerned were against top teams.
If you check, we haven't lost to anyone below Everton this year.
So on true form we haven't got anything to worry about, as we don't have to play top 6 every week.

I understand the thrust of your argument.

That said, after the Chelsea game (when we had lost 4 games in succession conceding 9 goals) if someone had uttered that we would win 3 of the next 6 games there might have been some who questioned this judgement.

Thank goodness I never predicted we would be sitting 11th at this point - I would have been accused of spouting total and utter hogwash ! A brilliant turnaround in fortunes.

Johan

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I can only reiterate that my view is that relegation for us is highly improbable and it really would take a remarkable set of results for us to plummet through the relegation trapdoor.

I suppose the phrase "Close but no cigar" is appropriate and maybe the fat lady is making her way to the stage !

I don't know how to put it any clearer.
Clubs below Everton rely on getting most of their points against teams below Everton.
If you have a run of games against top sides then statistically you are not going to get any points so to isolate a run of games against top teams is taking a false reading.

In the car on Sunday I heard Dean Ashton on talksport’s phone in day to Andy Goldstein I think that regarding West Ham vs Man City or any similar match, those are the games you expect to lose that you look to see if the manager has the players playing for him, with him, carrying out instructions and things are good in the camp. We’ve had that the whole time Roy’s been here. Not only can you see this in every single flaming game but I’ve heard it from people who’ve been to the training ground.

Anyone thinking anything on the contrary is sour and bitter. Laters.

With the greatest of respect I haven't seen anyone criticising Hodgson's training methods or suggesting that the players are not playing for him.

Hodgson is a terrific coach and the players have 'Bought-in' to his ideas.

That is a very good point, even during the losing games against the top teams, we showed enough.

......and you would have been one of them - probably at the front of the queue in fact.
