Of course you can claim and own your heritage, just as the native Americans can theirs. What you can’t do is lay claim to it exclusively. Others can share it, if they want to and are entitled to. Just as other American citizens do in the USA. There’s nothing genetically unique about us that allows such an idea to be correct. No one stops you from believing whatever you like. Beliefs are free and personal. Only actions are subject to restrictions. Perhaps you, and those others who take a similar line, could answer 2 questions. One of my grandmothers was French. Does that mean that, in your eyes, I am not English? My wife has colleagues at the hospital who are married, have made their home here and have 2 children. He was born in Italy and remains an Italian citizen, entitled to stay here under the post Brexit arrangements. She was born in the Philippines, but has acquired British citizenship, whilst retaining her original too. So a dual national. The children were both born here, only have British passports, only have English friends, go to a local school, watch British TV, play rugby and cricket and support English teams. Are they English? If not, what do you think they are? Prince Phillip would've called them slanty-eyed spicks.

I know some would argue he is German and others that he is a lizard but a vampire is new. Maybe someone should tell him. It could create a constitutional crisis as we search for the last remaining true blood Englishman. King Nigel anyone? Whoops! He has German ancestry too!

Imagine if Joe Biden had been there instead. A very different reaction I wager.

Joe Biden has to be the worst president I can remember. The Democrats have made everything worse, domestically and aboard. Edited by Stirlingsays (14 Jun 2024 11.43pm)

I see Mike Pence is refusing to endorse Trump and won’t be voting for him. Doesn’t it say quite a lot when your previous VP, who has witnessed him at close hand, decides he ought not be President again. I guess that’s scuppered his chances of getting the gig this time around. Trump only chooses yes men.

It's politics. There are 2 reason to take the non job that is VP. 1. You are at the end of your political career and this is a golden farewell. 2. Stepping stone. Promises have been made by the party that you will get a chance of the big chair when the doddery old fool steps down or doesn't run again. I assume Pence is 2 but as Trump is running again he has missed his chance and is unhappy.

Pence has refused to endorse Trump. That has brought tonnes of loathing on his head so was a very brave act for someone in his position. Even Nikki Haley who stuck out against him for as long as possible has caved in. He must truly believe it’s stupid to consider him. He should know. I agree with him.
