Wisbech identifies some commendable human traits, such as perseverance, tolerance, taking care of others. This virus has brought out these traits in large numbers. I have to take precautions, as I care for my vulnerable household, but however careful you are, there are always morons ready to invade your space, not take precautions and are ignorant of the risk to wider society they present by their behaviour,.."Because I'm alright" Winter is likely to be devastating, to many. Because the infection rate is now above the predicted "Worst case scenario" (how can that be ?), and we have (at least) another 3 days for people to spread the virus with their recklessness before they are told to stay at home.

The measures and restrictions that have been introduced to tackle and control the virus need to be followed and not ignored or continually breached. For those that don’t follow them, enforcement and punishment needs to be served far more rigorously and emphatically. The need for further measures now is because of people ignoring or not complying with the Infection control measures, not complying with the self isolation requirements and not complying with the Test & Trace protocols. Anyone guilty of this cannot complain when further and more draconian measures become necessary as a consequence. Look at the Countries, areas and examples of where the infection rate has been brought under control and how it was achieved; Strict control measures, enforcement, compliance from the population and serious consequences where breaches occurred. It isn’t rocket science. Edited by Phil’s Barber (31 Oct 2020 3.52pm)

It wasn’t then either. And that’s another problem. Goalposts and intentions get changed, it gets extended because it DOES or DOES NOT have an effect or enough of one. Unless they have the means to make a big change to something worthwhile I think they shouldn’t be doing this. And these hospitals not being overrun. Not even in the problem areas.

The problem we now have is that the government have been so selective with the worst figure at the time, ignoring the rest, inflating and exaggerating the numbers, changing the recording of admissions, using a faulty test, countries experiencing worse Covid with masks after the expert opinion was that they can actually be worse than not wearing one (that saving the NHS supply was ridiculous as well. They could’ve still bought all FFP3 masks and don’t use cloth or t-shirts) If we had been treated like adults and measures at the right times then compliance would have been higher. Why no queues to begin with in supermarkets during the bundles in March and April? Why ditch queuing because masks became mandatory? Why wasn’t the hand hygiene as well as distancing still a big government push then as well instead of everyone having a false sense of security in face cloths? I’m not actually surprised Surrey doesn’t have a problem relatively speaking. I personally know when I could put someone at risk or not, even though I see the government or opposition leadership on this as pretty pathetic or extreme in the wrong ways. Around me I see people not giving a fvck and actually can’t blame them because there’s no honest straight talking. Just another daily scare tactic. The worst being the SAGE flat line of deaths over a seriously long time and then it’s now Imperial College’s 2nd bell curve with 4,000 deaths with no restrictions or 2,500 with whatever restrictions they haven’t even a clue on anyway.

If people had acted like adults without the me me me freedoms gone mantra we might be in a better place as well. How many people exercise now who suddenly wanted to back then. About none I would think. The media is to blame along with the opposition constantly wanting answers to a question that couldnt be answered. It's a lose lose for the tories unfortunatly. More conspiracy theories about trackers and control coming up I guess!

I will leave the comment on anything theoretical to experts and those qualified to make it but I do find the Official figures from the most recent ONS release to be of huge concern. The latest release from the Office of National Statistics (on 27th October) provided the latest Official figures for Covid related deaths for week 42. The excerpt is as follows. ‘The number of death registrations in England and Wales involving the coronavirus (COVID-19) increased by 232 deaths, from 438 in Week 41 to 670 in Week 42 (a 53.0% increase).’ Without knowing your definition of ‘steep’ I would say a 53% increase in deaths week on week is huge and is cause for real concern. The next release from the ONS is due on November 3rd and I suspect the figures for more recent weeks (as yet not officially released) will be extremely serious, which is why the Government are taking further action. Did you miss my response to your post Rudi or are you just very selective about the bits you reply to?

No I just didn’t see it. There has been no increase in excess deaths for ages and other causes of death seem to have dropped to close to zero, in the months where deaths start rising annually. I accept that deaths will be rising but not the rate they’re claiming. Edited by Rudi Hedman (31 Oct 2020 6.02pm)

Really, who actually cares about Christmas that much vs months more of this dross. If this lockdown happens then it should be because it needs to happen now, not to make it work around Christmas. And on that note, this made me chuckle. 'Christmas isn't just a festival. It's an idea that leaves a warm glow in all of us. And there will be plenty of heart-warming tales this year. Scrooge will stick his head out of a window and send a boy running to Pret for a Turkey sandwich to send to Tiny Tim. Hurray! Pret is saved! Three wise men will bestow gifts of gold, gold and gold on Robert Jenrick for their stable redevelopment. Tim Martin will appear to us, warning us if we don't change our ways, we will live an unfulfilled life of not paying £1.09 for a pint of Carling in a piss-soaked Wetherspoons. And our hearts and our souls and our lungs will be filled by the magic of Christmas.'
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |
