I doubt very much whether T & C would be specific on the issue and in any case T & C are often not legally binding. They are much more often frighteners intended to stop people from pursuing legal redress.

I remain unconvinced.

Some people weren't convinced the laptop was his in the first place.

How can that possibly be true when we are an amalgam of various immigrations right back to when there was a land bridge between the rest of Europe and the British Isles? There cannot be a single marker that is found in us alone.

You don't have even a fundamental grasp of genetics.

Are you aware that minor mutations happen over time, causing new and distinct genetic markers?

That is how DNA samples can tell you where you are from. It compares other samples to find similarities and can then estimate your genetic heritage.
It can also pinpoint specific regional populations where you share the most markers.

Obviously, we share genes with North Western Europeans and Scandinavians etc, because that is where our ancestors came from in the last couple of thousand years. No doubt going further back we will have genes from Central Europe and so forth.

That does not mean that we are not distinctly English.

The term is Cornish and they all have direct genetic links to other Celtic areas in France, Wales, Ireland and Scotland as well as some in Spain. As well as with other groups in England and elsewhere. Somewhere there will be a link to you too.

The Cornovii were a tribe of people who lived (under the banner of Celt) mostly around Shropshire although they have been traced to Cornwall & Brittany.

England and the English have existed for almost 3000 years, the English have a unique & direct genetic link on this Island to the Mesolithic period, arguably even beyond.

No other ethnicity beats themselves down quite like the English have been programmed to do.
The English exist my man.

I saw someone mention on here today he thinks your some kind of AI/bot & I am starting to think the same.

That I am not a genealogist is true. Are you? I can though read. Can you? If so read this, which is just one of many similar comments on the "British Genealogy" website, whose users seem more likely to understand this better than either of us:-

"Ethnicity results are based on guesses based on the guesses of the ancestry of people living today.
They are not an accurate representation of where ones ancestors came from and never, repeat never will be.
They are best viewed as a bit of fun rather than anything that will help the family historian.

The important part of the DNA for the family historian is not the ethnicity guess but the data revealed by the chromosomes and any resulting matches, but even then care must be taken, as any gedcom associated with a match may not be accurate."

As even you talk about estimating your genetic heritage it seems you are making claims that don't stand up to even the briefest of examination. Wanting to find things to support a predetermined narrative rarely turns up the truth. Wanting to classify certain groups as English, but not others requires you to possess the answer before you ask the question.

The discussion was about passports. Not how people feel.

It was suggested only new arrivals have British on their passports and that’s simply untrue.

Whether you like it or not we are all British. That’s how the world sees us, even if some here can’t accept that.

Where I happen to live makes no difference as does the preposterous idea that they are “white” does either. Many of the people here are proud Cornishmen and women, who regard anyone from east of the Tamar as foreign, but they still carry a British passport when they fly out of Newquay.

Ok British English as it’s what most foreigners use as a descriptor of their nationality.
Meet you half way on this but I’m still English and proud to be such.

That people were living on these islands during the Mesolithic period is obviously true. That some of their DNA could probably still be found must also be true.

So what? That doesn't mean we all possess some. It's very unlikely that many do. Using that principle you could probably claim everyone everywhere is a national of whatever country they choose to be.

Being English has always been, and continues to be, a fluid concept. It depends on the flows of migrants caused by invasion and immigration over the centuries. It's not a fixed concept, especially one fixed by those who want to set the date of the fix so it excludes those arriving recently.

I'll come the other way! I am also English, in that I am not Cornish, but I am also British. That's what binds us together as a nation.

Am I proud of being English? Not nearly as much as I once was. There is much I find disagreeable about current attitudes and behaviour, whilst there are other things I find encouraging.

So you are saying that because ethnicity estimates are not 100% guaranteed accurate that the whole science of genetics is wrong and you are right?

It's pointless arguing with bonkers.

In my case, where I'm certain I know where my family comes from, it matches up perfectly with the regions suggested by my DNA.

Whole studies have been done to pin down people's origins. It's not all just about personal family searches.

Your attitude is that of someone who rejects national borders and the importance of identity and culture. It smacks of global governments and homogenised population, all there just to be drones and consumers. No historical heritage, no national pride, no reason to believe in or care about much of anything.

How dismal.

I have attached a jpeg of the area where 99% of migration has occurred, add the Franks/Frisians & until recently that's about it for the past 100,000 years.
The English or whatever name they went by before Aethelstan became the first king of England have a genetic (not cultural) link to this island dating back as far as you want to go.
Any mixing of the above came from a very small area of Europe directly opposite our own shores.

Were not an Island of Immigrants and never have been.

That is very disingenuous. I am happy and proud to be English. The fact that some are dicks isn’t my problem.
