Lots of people built a career on Thatcher.

Janet Brown. She also had her knockers
Billy Bragg
Ben Elton
Aurthur Scargill
Mark Thatcher

and she hindered Palace's progress by assisting in the Bombing of Libya, which put Colonel Gadaffi right off buying Palace

Mike Yarwood wasnt so lucky though.

So you would?

Start another f'ing thread.

I didn't start the Jewish thing.

That was a bit harsher than I meant but you won't let it lie.

I never knew I was engaged in a one way discussion!

Look how about no one mentions sodding Jews again and we can get back to the more relevant subject in hand.

Funny enough Forest I saw Steve Nallon on TV today, probably taking time out from his shelf stacking job at Aldi - the man who lost everything when Mrs T got the boot

..and i think u mean faith Brown - she had the knockers

Now that's a name from the past.

I wonder if she would be regarded as the best Thatcher impressionist.

I thought Streep did a good job of it.

"Silly Billy" now a catchphrase of my 5 year old.

As I said earlier, I expect a few papers will now investigate Sir Mark.

Apologies, although I often disagree, your debate is normally of a somewhat higher standard.

The reason the left hate her so much, is she made them realise how utterly stupid the left had become, and basically forced them to get rid of their ridiculous unsustainable socialist crap, and adopt a more "left of centre" noooo labour, that people would vote for and in doing so, made the Labour Party cut their socialist ties.

I would also like to point out that I have called no one names, or insinuated that their viewpoint is dimwitted as it doesn't agree with their own warped sensitivities.

I was however on the receiving end of the above from two people who should now better, proof if any where needed that the left, don't like home truths, have a very lop sided view of the world (at best), and at worse are blinkered and embittered as their own party has only offered a war criminal and a succession of idiots in response to Maggie's tenure at number 10.

Makes a change. No. wait... that's Palace Talk Usually justifiable I may add.

FFS If we can't fall out over Thatcher....

I admit to becoming embroiled with the odd total and utter dick in Palace Talk.

I wouldn't fall out with anyone over the great Mrs Thatch. She wasn't everyone's taste I accept that. What makes me piss is the utter hatred for a women who did what was required at the time, and lets face it what were the options at the time.

Are we holding hands again

I do recognise that we needed someone as strong-willed and assertive as Mrs T in 1979 but not someone with her warped ideology. She was an extremely right wing politician keeping out a Labour party quite popular with the extreme left. Personally, I couldn't stand them both.

We needed a Mrs T. But not her. We needed someone like her but with more social awareness. Gotta remember too that millions of kids suffered from her slash and burn policies. Casualties of an idealogue's war.

I'll link pinkies but nothing else.

Being heavily involved with politics I've never posted on this subject, as I've always discussed these matters face to face.
However, having viewed this thread from a distance, I think that this post from you Kerm, is pretty much spot on.

For anyone interested in the Commons debate, its been a fairly predictable procession of sychophantic speeches from the Conservative back benches but with a few very good speeches on both sides. The most impressive have been the more generous, or at least balanced interventions from the labour side.

And, in case my earlier post passed you by, Glenda Jackson is a wizzened, bitter old crone.

I'll regard that as a rather classy back handed compliment.

Its gone downhill in the last 2 hours - just a procession of Tories making sure they are seen by their constituents, telling 'amusing' tales about how they met Mrs T once, at a village fete. But yes, first couple of hours had some very good interventions.
