The only players who leave with their reputations enhanced are Geuhi Overall a completely I memorable tournament that could have been so different if Geuhi’s header was a foot either way and Stones had smaller knees. Fine margins indeed Came across this whilst browsing . . . [Link]

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Had Rice headed the ball downwards, the goalkeeper might not have been able to keep the ball out. As the saying goes "It was a good height for the keeper".

Made me laugh, I think it was Didi hamann the old Liverpool player chose his worst 10 games of the tournament, now I know he’s a German enjoying sticking the boot in while we’re down, but all seven of Englands games were in his worst ten, can’t argue really, I think every game I must have said imagine being a neutral watching this s***

Did the best with the players we had, but I cant understand all the hype about Bellingham, he seems like an average player at best (not good enough for Glasner's Eagles)
Touch my coffee and I will slap you so hard even Google won't be able to find you. |

Clearly he was shattered for England and the long season had caught up with him. I know most players have long seasons for their clubs, but he’s an engine room type player and in the thick of it every game and he must’ve clocked up some miles last season

One can possess all the ingredients but sometimes the souffle fails to rise and of course the Chef takes the blame ! Edited by Willo (15 Jul 2024 5.01pm)

Interesting. I feel that either Potter, Howe or Poch would be a huge upgrade on Southgate. If he wanted it, Howe would be my pick. My views on Southgate are the same as most on here. Clearly an articulate and nice bloke who the players seems to like. However, he doesn't have the tactical knowledge to get the best out of his excellent squad. In fact, he's nowhere near. Despite getting to the final (somehow), I think this is our worst tournament performance under him. There appears to be a negative mindset - opposite of how they all play for their clubs - ingrained in the squad. We've seen it time and time again with England and we don't learn. There was a 3 minute spell after we scored where we looked like we had momentum and before you know it we're sitting back trying to absorb pressure. That winning goal was coming and it was deserved. As some of the pundits have said, Spain winning was good for football. Southgate, please resign. I would put Thomas Frank in the pot.

Each game he was replaced by Palmer and within seconds we looked a better team. Team selection was Southgate's downfall, his loyalty to Kane, when everyone could see he was struggling and keep playing Rice who plays so deep and generally passes backwards, slows England down. Wharton isn't quite ready yet and was better not being associated with failure at this stage of his career.
