So because they all wanted to remain they are Good! Of course not. They might all be possessed of common sense but other than that......? It was in response to the suggestion the only reason he is criticising Johnson is that he is a "bitter remainer".

Johnson had two speeches prepared for referendum night. One for leave if it was successful, and the other one for remain if likewise. Johnson relies on the publics gullibility he thinks he can get away with anything. And he's right they even gave him a massive majority, even the tory rags had doubts about him.

What you mean is that you would rather everyone buries their heads in the sand and pretend it's not happening. We have a Tory government who pretends to be tough on mass immigration and yet allows it to carry on year on year. Meanwhile, people complain about housing shortages, crime, racism, low wages and traffic congestion. All directly related to mass immigration. I eagerly await the 2021 census results this spring. I wonder how you and the government will try to spin the results. Perhaps they will come up with some new definitions for immigrants to make them sound more British. Is it not also a consequence of people living forever? There's the rub Hrolf. An expanding retired population with commensurate increasing need for tax funded services but a diminishing working population to provide the tax money. Soem of this is resolved by automation. Not enough. You voted against the workforce being refreshed by literate Europeans. So how-to you propose the NHS and state pension will be funded without immigration? I am not against you on this. Climate change and a rise in sea level will trigger mass global population movements. Thus where will Bagladeshi folk go if part of the fertile Ganges Delta falls under salt water?

The big issue about immigration....if we ignore all the ethnic stuff I tackled earlier in the thread.....is the simple fact that it's a ponzi scheme....which I'm sure you realise as well. Immigrants get old too....you can't keep importing ever greater numbers of young foreigners European or otherwise because it's unsustainable....they all want pensions too. The answer to this was native birth rates allied with automation....and birth rates decades ago....some countries outside the western sphere of influence have long since woken up to this....birth rates are the key.....but not in the west because they have different goals. The other temporary measure is guest worker systems that don't allow naturalization and where the time limits are actually enforced...Japan has taken this route. Though in Japan...because they gave a feck... you can actually tell who isn't Japanese most of the time. I could go on about the rot social liberalism and certain aspects of feminism have closed doors for western societies but many books have been written on it and it makes no difference.....the current moves in the direction big money wishes to flow. Those who think these things forward realise that the constant kicking of the can down the road doesn't end in new highways but rather dead ends. Or we could just listen to the hippies and those waffling distractions on utopian ideas that never worked.

It obviously didn't bother you that much did it......and apparently we have the fastest recovering economy in the EU. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Feb 2022 10.40pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Feb 2022 10.40pm) I picked out that statistic from the news yesterday. "Fastest recovering". Measured over what time frame? And when the UK was one of the worst impacted, then it's a lot easier to see a massive growth (statistically), however small. And while I'm very happy for the economy, inflation is really high, coupled with petrol prices and gas and falling/static wages in many sectors.(if indeed, you were lucky enough to hold on to your job). Stories like this do exactly what the press want don't they!

As a matter of interest, the ex MFI Factory, now Wren Kitchens in Barton Upon Humber is flourishing and needs more skilled workers. Edited by HKOwen (12 Feb 2022 7.48am)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The problems you identify were inherited at a time when Thatcherism was becoming unpopular and Labour under John Smith, and then Tony Blair, were looking like a fresh, new alternative. His "sleaze" was personal, which he apologised for and was ashamed of. Professionally he had integrity and a belief in democracy that is sadly missing today. Johnson deserves all the criticism which is coming his way, and more. Past Tory PMs must be turning in their graves seeing this clown in No 10. Major, Cameron and May are the only ones still alive. All wanted us to remain in the EU. Maybe they knew something! May and Major are openly critical of Johnson, who believes in nothing at all. Wisbech - his sleaze wasn't personal - we didn't learn of that until 2002 and it was before he was PM.
