All those kind of people / supporters are trying to normalize pedophilia aswell. All cut from the same tree they are. Paedophilia is not normal. It’s disgusting, abhorrent and illegal. So too is deliberately casting doubt over people by making slanderous assertions, based solely on innuendo. Making allegations without evidence, just because you want them to be true, are the acts of cowards.

I think it's ok to criticise Trump for talking like that about his daughter....though I don't think he talked about what it would be like having sex with his daughter. Oh look, when you research this poster has repeated a claim made by a 'never Trumper' who lied to work in the Trump adminstration and then left the Republican party to spend his time attacking Trump and supporting Biden. He wrote a book that went into the bestseller list.....No motivations for hyperbolic claims there then. So there's no actual proof Trump said that. Yet the poster presents it without context. There is no evidence nor any suggestion from his daughters that Trump was sexually inappropriate. Even the one who doesn't like him hasn't suggested that. It can be noted that the guy who calls Trump a 'degenerate' is the same guy who defends Biden when we have direct evidence that he took showers with his own 13 year old and that the daughter suffered sexual trauma as a youngster that she's had years of therapy for. However, none of us are surprised with the views of this particular poster. Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Jun 2024 7.16pm)

The only extremism on show here comes from those willing to judge behaviour that is almost certainly completely innocent just because they don’t like the man involved. Behaviour that might appear unusual but without knowing the circumstances nothing should be assumed. I have known places which have wet rooms with many showers there. When occupied only by one sex the users are naked. When mixed they shower with their underwear on. I have no idea if that was what happened. Do you? Compare this with Trump’s attitude towards his daughter, Ivanka! Aides said he talked about her breasts, her backside, and what it might be like to have sex with her, remarks that prompted his then Chief of Staff John Kelly to remind the president that Ivanka was his daughter. Is that normal? I think it is extremely “degenerate and deleterious.”

I said within my experience. Which is limited to the developed world, with one exception. I am not talking about Africa. The US President is the de facto leader of the Western World. That they should maintain the highest standards of integrity and probity is vitally important. Trump has no such standards and because of that represents a real danger to us and our future. I know of no one worse. Not from either the past or present in the USA, or currently elsewhere in the west, although Orban comes close. My one exception is the Philippines but Marcos was before my time. His son is now President. The politics there is so corrupt that comparisons are meaningless. Oh come on. Marcos before your time!! 1965-1986. You said the most corrupt politician of all time and now say you are not talking about Africa. So you can’t categorically say he is the most corrupt of all time

Trump’s statements on his daughter are beyond question. The ones I highlighted were reported by his Chief of Staff, who should know and who, so far as I am aware, has not been sued for libel. There are though many other instances, some of which are recordings of him actually saying these things. I am not suggesting he is, or was, a paedophile, anymore than Biden is. Only that with Trump there is direct, unarguable, evidence of an unhealthy attitude. With Biden there are only slurs. Why his daughter suffered and needed therapy is completely unknown. Making assumptions based on something in an old diary is not just unfair. Making them openly is slander.

Nor would I. In normal circumstances but at a camp site, keeping my swimwear on, I might. The only point I am making is we don’t know the context, so jumping to conclusions is unreasonable. Even if they did shower together, in some families that would not be considered unusual. It might to us, but not everyone is the same. I am only defending the same right we all have. Which is not to be judged without the facts being known.

So whilst I had been aware of Marcos and knew his reputation I never experienced being there with him as President. His reputation amongst the Filipino people is not the same as we perceive it. The Philippines is so very different that trying to make meaningful comparisons is next to impossible. The last President condoned the police shooting drug dealers and most of the people supported him. He was also genuinely devoted to his people and a modest man who took nothing for himself.

The fact that the diary, written long after the time as part of a recovery programme, exists, was stolen, was authenticated by its author and published is not disputed. Nor is the fact that she remains traumatised by the theft and publication because of the harm it has done to her father. That’s where the facts end. Anything else is speculation.

Not many there that are even on the fringes of the western world, let alone leading it! You could add their impact together and it would not come near the potential harm that Trump has at his finger tips.
