So if tory policy over the years was so unfair why have many Labour MPs
(share the wealth) purchased a former local authority property. Hell I bet even some anti tories on here own a former LA property. No matter how far back it was still LA owned.
Diane thicko paid 80k for hers in North London back in the day. Worth 7 figures now. Oh the irony
Hands up then, who's in the same camp.
I personally would have if given the choice, my parents did and it gave a massive boost to the property market.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I met my Dutch friend yesterday I was asking her about the property market in Holland. It's a mixed bag but a lot of it is rent controlled.

Interestingly she said that salary was linked to rent controls and the homeowner had to move out once they broke through a salary cap.

So young couple low wages get a rent controlled home but once their careers take off and their on a good salary they have to move.

Apparently most Dutch except this as fair perhaps our Trade union leaders on £150k who live in council houses might like to think about that.

What a boost particularly to our young people that would be here.

There are plenty of cheap houses across the country. For the time being they are just in the wrong place.

The pandemic has acceleration decentralisation of jobs away from London. Sorting out the infrastructure to allow more highly paid jobs to exist away from London would be another way.

With the amount of flats going up, getting on the housing ladder doesn't seem to be our biggest issue. Getting up the housing ladder into decent sized family homes seems more difficult. Empty nesters seem to be hogging the housing stock, often passing property to their kids, who then rent it. Charging people for care out/pension top ups by using equity in the property could be one way to fund this, assuming the value of property is always rising, or more inheritance tax could be another way.

(Or instead of discussion, we could just bore everyone by blaming immigrants)

That seems a fairly equitable arrangement although a bit tough on those whose careers improve at the same time they start having children.

Yup but I don't know what the exact formula is you would hope it is based on disposal income. Anyway this is seen as a good system, the problem in this country is that people who rent decide that this is their home so how dare they be told to move out for a poorer couple.

In all honesty that would be my attitude as well. I don’t mind helping people out but moving?

I just thought that if you're going to repeat leftist phrases that you should think about the personal consequences of them if they were realised.

Yeah, as I said in my post, I gave up a large slice of the rent I could have taken, can"t be fairer than giving free cash can I?

Cheap; as in at cost plus a minor % for admin or just a few % under the average.
If you own it outright then it should be the former what with you being a believer in sharing the wealth!

Cheap as half rental value with a free month in December for christmas costs for tenant mate.

Ha ha, yes, pesky immigrants, taking our jobs! And some of these Poles. apparently, so a mate of a friend heard, were sending the money they earned here home to Poland, to help their families! FFS! Sending it home! Thats gratitude for you, not soending it here, helping our economy, but sending it home ! Wheres the calvalry from Europe anyway? Thought they would be flooding Dover to take part in our generous 3 month work offer, going home on christmas eve,(although I heard this is now extended to late march) ? Thats gratitude for you, we keep them alive all these years with her majestys shilling, and when we are fcuked, they don"t rush over to bail us out? Tut tut, we are sinking, without a paddle, and its all the pesky immigrants fault!

Funny that in Germany, lots of people rent all their life, they look on a house as a place to live, not as a pension pot, thats why they are always on holiday, spending the spoils instead of at home counting the pot!
