“Do any of you support their behaviour? What right do they have to move supporters who have potentially been there more than they have lived.” I do. And I’m an old fart with no affiliation to the HF. The decision should have been based on what is in the best interests of the club, balanced against the prejudice to the fans who need to make way. People have eloquently made the case for the HF in this thread. No one is suggesting that the 100 odd HF are ‘better’ supporters. But they are more influential that any random bunch of season ticket holders, on and off the pitch, and their unique value as an organised and effective force should be recognised. Balance their impact on the atmosphere at SP and our reputation in the game against the harm that will be done to the displaced. No one is denying those fans the right to retain a season ticket in the Holmesdale. They will just be sitting in a different seat. The prejudice is minimal. Sometimes we have to act in the interests of the common good and if that means shifting a few fans then so be it. We don’t have the finances to compete with the big boys in terms of winning silverware. But we can and do outperform them in the stands. I enjoy belonging to a club whose support is the envy of the league and has become a defining feature of ‘being Palace’. I will be very sad if this unique attribute, one that sets us apart from the rest, is needlessly thrown away. I recognise that to some extent I bask in the reflected glory of the HF. I suspect there are others on here that do so too, but without due acknowledgment to the people concerned. I respect and applaud the efforts of the HF. I implore any of their number who happens to read this to build bridges and be the bigger man - for the benefit of our beloved club and all Palace fans everywhere.

Totally agree with above post. This situation has been severely underestimated. It hard enough to stay in this division the HF gave us a bit of an advantage at home . Now we will become just another ground .

This post has been merged from a topic called 'An alternative view on last night's atmosphere' by Midlands Eagle They are on general sale (tickets at the front of block b) so not season ticket holders. I have so far avoided sitting there as it would feel a bit weird. Real shame the way things have gone.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'An alternative view on last night's atmosphere' by Midlands Eagle Ah that's interesting, so in other words the club may well end up selling the seats back to the HF if the situation improves - good to know if nothing else, also explains the lack of noise at the front. There could even have been Liverpool fans in there for all we know I guess?

I've been standing towards the back of Block B for a good few years, and whilst there have undoubtedly been worse atmospheres than last night's during that time, it has to be said that Selhurst really was very quiet yesterday evening. A high possibility that many of them were not Palace fans

This post has been merged from a topic called 'An alternative view on last night's atmosphere' by Midlands Eagle I'm row 24, so about half way. I did see a group at the front trying to get it going but unfortunately they weren't always singing the same as the rest of us. There was also a guy who appeared to be sticking his fingers up at the back of the block which was bizarre. They all looked very young!

IN the old days fans that were like minded and wanted to stand and sing together did so and congregated in any area of the terraces that was free at the time. Now with all stadium seating this old tradition has become more difficult. I guess the only solution to this issue of wanting your preferred space will come when we get the standing areas. This will then give the club and fans the chance to reassess their situation. In the meantime whoever you are, wherever you watch. near or far COYP

This post has been merged from a topic called 'An alternative view on last night's atmosphere' by Midlands Eagle Yeah I'm row 24 too, saw a couple of lads at the front who looked like they were trying to play at being the HF but doing a very embarrassing job of it. Hopefully enough of those seats remain available so that if something is worked out then a number of the real HF can return - up till then I guess it's up to us.
