The fact is we aren't mathematically safe and football can throw up a whole host of surprises.I'm certainly NOT 'Counting chickens'. You really are a trolling bell end, if you did any of your so called analysis you would know that it is nigh on impossible for us to go down. Oldham is a false equivocation.

It really is a shame that some on here feel it necessary to hurl personal insults - thankfully for all my faults I don't stoop to such a level. Of course it is highly improbable that we will get relegated but it is not impossible, so whilst there is a chance of relegation I am adopting an attitude of caution.Indeed it would take a set of rather extraordinary results but football has thrown up umpteen surprises over the years (Just like Oldham! - and of course Leicester !) so no champagne on ice for me at this juncture.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I think that most of us have heard yours far too many times so please call it a day now on the negativity front

This is certainly a more positive message than my messages in recent weeks.I was just urging some caution based on past experiences in the world of football. Edited by Willo (01 May 2018 11.12am)

It is highly unlikely now we will go down but the manager RH has not ruled it out. Until he says we are mathematically safe then that is the position. Willo only saying the same IMO. I think Goal Diff and teams playing each other all but rule it out. Well played defensively may be a surprise to many of us.

We are 11th and six points clear of the team in 18th with +6 difference in GD and they have three to play. Below us are Swansea, Huddersfield, Wet Spam, weed, Watford and Bournemouth. Most of those are toilet and/or have ghastly remaining fixtures. What's more, we get to play Stoke at the weekend, and Southampton and Stoke both have to play Swansea. Maybe you're worried about form? Bournemouth, Watford, weed Swansea and Stoke haven't won any of their last five games. We're the only team in the bottom half that's lost only one of the last five, unless you count West Brom, who can't now catch us. We've just trounced Leicester five-nil, a result which blows whatever analysis you claim to have done clean out of the water and halfway across England. Bookies are offering odds of a thousand to one against your "possibility" of relegation. But no, no, you're "not a betting man", so you won't even put 10p where your mouth is, will you? Troll.

This weekend we have the luxury of knowing Brighton's result early and then knowing our result before the 3pm kick offs. We will then know what other results will suit us best. If we win we can hope Newcastle don't win and Swansea get a result against Bournemouth. If we don't win then I don't think we can be mathematically safe on Saturday, but if results go our way we could be virtually safe given the GD. If Southampton get tonked then even if we lost by a single goal they would need snookers to catch us and there's still half a dozen other s*** teams with difficult fixtures in the firing line before us.

Edited by Willo (01 May 2018 11.12am) Please tell us when in your "past experiences in the world of football" you have seen a team in a position like ours at this stage get relegated. Oldham does not count because in that instance there was one place at stake between us and them, whereas in this instance there is a whole pile of toilet between us and the trap door.

Just look at the more recent experience of Leicester ! I can only re-iterate that relegation for us is highly improbable and the fact that we are in this position is testament to the wonderful work carried out by Hodgson and his coaching staff, NOT forgetting the players.

I really don't understand the negativity towards Willo here? Of course Palace won't go down from here, but he is only stating a mathematical fact that Palace technically aren't safe- I'm sure you'd get lower odds on Palace getting relegated now then you would have done on Leicester winning the league when they were 20th the season before....
