Dodging the point somewhat. The level of what you're calling "media savvy" out there in the populace is, in my view, on a downward spiral. It's very much in the mass media's (and their advertising customers) interests for it to be so. As the populace as a whole spend more and more time on devices and less and less time actually thinking for themselves, do you see levels of "media savvy" increasing? Really I rule out anything in the media as being actually true. Reading the headlines first thing in the day I stop myself from reacting and re-visit later in the day. A 'story' must be there for a few days before you can see if there is anything actually in it. Its amazing that once responsibly regarded media just print a load of lies and, when found to be completely untrue, just continue with the next with no comment. On Channel 4 News on the evening of the Westminster bombing they broadcast video of a cleric and left the viewers in no doubt he was the bomber and that was who we had seen complete with all his history of terrorist incitement etc. Someone phoned in and said he had visited this cleric in prison that day and what were they talking about!!!! You can imagine how the s**t had hit the fan as Channel 4 had basically decided this guy was the bomber without any evidence at all. They bluffed it out I don't think they have apologised or anything I was amazed Channel 4 News and reliable Jon Snow would do this. Apparently it has been taken up whether but we will here of it again I doubt but I trusted Channel 4 news. That guy could have been you or me just walking to the shops in the area at the time.

Corbyn has vowed to sort the media out. Tories won't, they don't want to upset their non dom paymasters. If you want a crooked press, vote Tory.

Steeleye20 makes a good point though....Both the mainstream media and alternative media are problematical. I saw this excellent video on this matter by a modern day digital journalist who has been apart of both types. It doesn't have a political agenda and I highly recommend giving it a view.

If their policies are so popular and the people are apparently starving and under the yoke of the most right wing government since the Duke of Wellington, it would sell well wouldn't it? I'm sure the Morning Star could cope with the competition what with its huge circulation.
