I think Trump definitely has been engaged in talking truth as he sees it...but also half truth and sometimes just lying and s*** talking. Apart from the s*** talking he isn't any different to most politicans coming out of America. However Trump is a nationalist and it is this which has seen him get...what I would describe as unacceptably biased and aggressive reporting from a left centred reporting base....Which unfortunately, as the BBC is publicly funded, the BBC is. Your opinion of Kuenssberg isn't held by many people who would regard themselves as right wing. Following the 2016 local elections, a petition on 38 Degrees was begun, which accused Kuenssberg of being biased against the Labour Party and its leader Jeremy Corbyn, and called for her dismissal. It was later withdraw due to the sheer amount of hate she was taking, which was taking away from the actual point. Edited by Stirlingsays (01 Mar 2017 11.11am) Interesting that none of the sexist tweets were ever shown. Yes there were some, however inexcusable, it's inevitable that it will happen - look at the flak Abbott takes on Twitter.

I agree that freedom of speech isn't always easy. Some abuse is very hard to take....some horrible people taunt those who have lost loved ones for example. I'm not exactly sure of how we deal with them but outside of physical threats to someone I think America's first amendment far exceeds our own laws in terms of speech freedoms. In spite of being told our 'hate' speech laws wouldn't be abused it was only a little time ago that Nottingham Police themselves were abusing the spirit of the law.

Aren't we in danger of stereotyping wealthy, elderly, comb-over men who can't string two words together? After all, what harm has Bobby Charlton ever done (apart from sticking one or two in the Palace net over the years of course).
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

There are some very scary crazy people in US politics, than in the UK would probably be sectioned. Watching congress and sentators state that the AHCA is Communism, or that women cannot get pregnant by rape is quite astonishing, or arguing against teaching evolution in schools because god (and so on). Trump does really fit in as a more reasonable version of them.

In between mouthing "Thank You" a thousand times, his speech last night wasn't so bad...apart from the bits I didn't agree with.

Who gives a mightly f**k what Germans think. yeah it doesn't ususally go well when they spend more than that. maybe not mess with them not starting any more wars.

Made me chuckle. I did wonder what the scriptwriting team would do about a different kind of president.

American politicians have been playing wag the dog with the plebians successfully for at least 20 years now. Trump just turning it into art form.
