As the current Trump trial is being held by the State of New York the Judge is a State appointee. Trump has no direct control over appointments or dismissals and almost certainly very little influence in a Democratically controlled State with no prospect of a change until 2026 at the earliest.

Can you example these minor crimes. In the usa I think 3 strikes stands so tough if you did it 3 times you should learn your lesson really. I watched a tv programme which featured this only a few days ago. The US jails huge numbers. Many, obviously, for serious crime but also many very poor people without the resources to pay fines for such things as traffic offences. It came over as a pointless system, costing much more than applying punishments they could deal with, like community service orders.

The average wage is around 25 cents an hour while they produce 11 billion dollars worth of goods. As long as money is being made they'll continue locking people up.

Wisbech Are you for real pointing a finger at Trump for defending himself against an onslaught of politically motivated charges against him? I notice your finger never wags against Joe and Hunter Biden for the +$50m their family received from rogue states who bought influence from the Biden machine when he was Vice President. Like the BBC, you don’t even have intellectual curiosity to examine or question it in any detail. Trump being a t*** doesn’t mean the likes of you and the political left elite should ignore the biggest corrupt politician in a generation namely Joe Biden.

So unprogressive and counter productive it made me wince.

Their legal system has done that to the most obviously corrupt politician, let alone President, there has ever been. Someone who is milking the publicity to his advantage and delaying as many of the trials as possible until after the election in the hope he can then kick them into the long grass and issue a preemptive pardon. There is no political influences involved here. The reverse is true. This works against the Democrats because it takes attention away from Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 result and his role in the Capital riot. If they had their way these cases would not have gone forward but the law doesn’t pay heed to politics. Which is also true of the Bidens. I have always been consistent on this. If there is evidence of corruption then put it before a Court and let it be judged. The problem is that despite armies raking through the muck no admissible evidence sufficient to bring a case has been found. There are more than enough looking and ready to take the first opportunity so you can be pretty sure by now that all that actually exists are some bad judgements by a drug influenced Hunter and other family members and nothing that directly relates to the President. Of course that doesn’t stop the innuendo and rumour mills. As evidenced by the last line of the above comment. Trump by contrast does most things in open view, so there’s no point in innuendo.

Having listened to all the details, nuances and transcripts I am truly shocked at the verdict!! I have no idea if he is guilty of the charges but listening to the p*** star, thief and liar and sleaze media, I thought it was impossible to convict beyond a reasonable doubt! 12 New Yorkers obviously thought different!

Let's see if this moves the betting markets
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The verdict is a political disgrace fit for a banana republic. When the Democrats are voted out they deserve everything coming their way. Never has a president deserved retribution more.

Trump won in 2016 and despite Clinton having many issues he could have investigated he refused to prosecute her as it's unprecedented in modern times. However, the Biden administration changed that dynamic. Working through its proxies it has changed the game on the prosecution of a political opponent in America....there isn't a going back from this. This administration make everything they touch worst.

Enjoy your moment in the sun, I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of this.
