Look beyond the agenda and headlines. Do you seriously believe that the kind of school boy antagonisms discussed here deserve to be called racism? Of course we have all become more race sensitive, primarily because we have far more immigrants here. There is no doubt that insulting people using race related antagonisms is as unacceptable as any other insult in most situations. The one exception is when all parties deem any kind of insult as acceptable in a given situation, such as between good friends or colleagues. Trying to pretend that these kinds of situations don't exist is simply dishonest. That is why the claims of Rafiq are so questionable, as he appears to have become offended retrospectively, whereas at the time he was happy to indulge in similar language toward others and be a willing participant in the 'banter' of that time. It's no good just saying that racial antagonisms are no longer acceptable because that ignores the dynamics of a particular relationship. Furthermore, we are talking about conversations that happened several years ago, before the age of potty wokeism. I think that is a very sensible summary. Those who talk in terms of a uptopia that doesn't have racism are fantasists or people willing to use feel good language to portray highly authoritarian dystopias where people have to watch their backs and are scared of speech codes. It's very soviet. Bad and unprofessional behaviour should be dealt with by managers....especially if someone is actually being bullied. However, race and group preference are part of life...Rafiq and his mates have displayed that for themselves, while demonising it in other groups. It's puritanism and as such it must have its witches. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Nov 2021 12.38pm)

So Vaughn has been dropped because he cannot adhere to the woke agenda after falling victim to it himself.
No one wanted it except those who directly profit from it. It is a green light for playing the race card. There are some people who take everything personally and are ridiculously oversensitive. That says more about their own insecurities and failures than anyone else. When they happen to be non White, this is often blamed on other people's racism.

Unless they can prove their innocence (a handy video exonerating would be nice) there are 2 accusations that just to be mentioned with will likely destroy a public figure whether they are guilty or not. Sexual misconduct and Racism. I don't believe that those that make those accusations are not unaware that if untrue or grossly exaggerated just how damaging they are. They know full well there is no coming back as the Twitterverse will pile on. I noticed Rafiq has said "it should not be all about Michael Vaughan" well he has had his say and MV has utterly denied it and is entitled to use the media to defend himself. Linking Vaughn to racism Rafiq can't now complain if MV hits back and others start digging for dirt on him. Edited by Badger11 (24 Nov 2021 2.16pm)

It should be noted that while 'P*** Power' shirt wearer Rafiq comments were backed by two other sub continent players The fourth player in that racial group - bowler Ajmal Shahzad has said that he had no recollection of the event and that 'the senior guys were really good to me'. My previous observation that this stuff is bitter resentment turned up to eleven and 'power used and abused' because it was 'power available'. However people like Raqif will always exist. It's the people who support their destruction that are really to blame. People's careers destroyed over the destructive narcissism of puritans. I wonder if their own careers would have survived close scrutiny of whatever sort.....not doubt the tune would have changed. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Nov 2021 2.27pm)

According to the Mirror - (a report just read) this racist investigation commission has now received at least one racism based complaint about every single first class cricket county - all 18 of them.

At the possibility of nearly a quarter of a million in compensation each, is that surprising.......

The Asian All Stars in the Birmingham and District League were real spin legends. Never had any white players, nor spoke any English at all. At least they avoided all of this rampant racism.

By professionals or disgruntled parents of colt players. For example, the Surrey development system starts with well over 120 kids in the early years and whittles them down to under 20. Many parents' dreams of living vicariously through their children get crushed.

with the current initiative being to shine a light on racism in cricket ( & presumably all sport / avenues of life) by the time all these individual allegations are investigated it does make you wonder what first class cricket (& other sports) will look like in say 24 months from now.
