We would certainly be in a pickle.

Mind you I bet Eric Pickles loved a few beef sandwiches....probably just as a starter.

For the Tories to get an overall majority, they're going to have to pick up seats from other parties, and in some numbers, whilst holding on to their own, quite a few of which might be called vulnerable.

Can anybody see this happening? Because I can't.

The Tories have a healthy lead in the polls right now, and the Brexit Party not contesting the 317 seats they won previously won't do them any harm.

I get what you're saying though, as there are a number of dynamics at play. Corbyn is very unpopular already, and so it could be said that the only way is up. But I feel that for leave voters, people have a much clearer idea of who to vote for this time around than reamainers do, and in a FPTP system that might give them the edge in a number of marginals.

My own view is:
- I can't see Labour taking many seats from the Tories.
- Labour will do well in the cities but that's not enough last time they increased their share of the vote in Labour strongholds which doesn't help you get extra MPs.
- The Lib Dems may hurt the Tories in the marginal seats as Remain voters may prefer them to Labour.
- The Brexit party may hurt Labour in some key marginals but they may also split the anti Labour vote so could go either way. I think they will get votes but not many MPs.
- The Tories have now got rid of the 20 rebels more or less so if they can hang onto those seats that's a boost even if their numbers don't go up. They only need to get another twenty to have a comfortable majority.
- Wee Jimmy Krankie will clean up in Scotland and I expect the Tories to be wiped out and possibly Labour as well.

In summary I think it's the Lib Dems and the Brexit party who will hurt or help the Tories. Labour is a known quantity I just don't see undecided people flocking to their banner.

Indeed but Hilary Clinton was once 1/10 to win the US Presidential election,Theresa May was expected to gain a much increased majority and Remain were expected to win the referendum.

I take nothing for granted.

The fact is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is a liar who cannot be trusted on anything.
In 1988 he was sacked from the Times for making up a quote in a front-page story
He lied about laying in front of a bulldozer to stop Heathrow expansion.
He lied when figurehead of the 2016 Vote Leave campaign, saying the UK sent the EU £350million a week.
He lied to the DPU about not letting there be a border down the Irish Sea

Nothing he says can be trusted at all.

Why do you keep insisting on referring to him by his full name as it seems rather childish to me.

Is Boris Johnson any worse than Diane Julie Abbott (see how silly it looks)

Diane Abbott lied when she said that Labour had only lost 50 seats

Diane Abbott lied when she claimed it would cost £300,000 to hire the 10,000 new bobbies during an interview with LBC.

Diane Abbott lied about knife deaths in Scotland during 2017, when she claimed there was none.

Nothing she says can be trusted at all.

Royal Mail strike is off for now so that means we will get our poll cards and postal votes and bills and junk mail, damn.

Royal mail claim the vote was rigged although it was 97% in favour of a strike and they are a bolshy lot so I don't expect the re-run will be any different.

Turkey's voting for Christmas this lot are going the way of the dockers.

I think it's fairly obvious. The common 'man 'o the people' pleb voting for an elite without admitting or in most cases even understanding the irony has always amused me. And you don't get much more elite than that rather large overpiffled grouping.

As for 'all politicians lie', well obviously. Another thing I fail to understand. Why do people insist on countering with 'well look what so and so did so there' when they all do it? Are you five? Fine point it out, but don't do it in a way that seeks to make one look better than the other. It's disingenuous and meaningless. But if you need to tell yourself that you're voting for the better person in order to make it more tolerable, then fine.

Come off it. The Boris is a liar ploy in the wider context of politics is utterly feeble.
It is crying out for whataboutery and ridicule.

Labour tend to keep loose cannons like Abbott hidden away during election time. As nonsense just comes out of her mouth.
Every time she is wheeled out, I get the disturbing image of her liaison with Corbyn, when they were young Marxists.

Issue with calling this election one way or the other is that since 2015 nothing has gone the way it has meant to.

We were meant to vote Remain. We did not.
We were meant to give May a massive majority. We did not.

Perhaps the only political event that has gone according to conventional wisdom was the Euro elections with the Brexit Party absolutely storming it just as UKIP did in the one before that.

Parliament has been insane with a Speaker tearing up hundreds of years of convention to deliberately undermine a sitting Government, ditto with the Courts and then an Opposition failing, not once but 3 times, to actually back an election.

The entire period has been utter political pandemonium.

I predicted that Johnson will win this GE with a 30-40 seat majority but the truth is that is more a hunch than anything else and certainly not qualifiable but I simply cannot see how Labour gain a single seat and will lose a slew more. They did fantastically well back in 2017 on a manifesto promise to honour the 2016 vote and yet have not only gone back on that but are promising to put us all through another 6 months of hell with this second referendum nonsense. Which achieves nothing because Brexit does not go away on the back of it. I feel they would have been better off going full-on Remain because at least then there is a sense of it all being over even if it would not be but at least it is a clear option.

Throw in the fact that whatever you think of Johnson (and I cannot dispute any of the negatives the lefties like to list) the man does have a charisma about him. He is not May, who had the personal charm of chlamydia and has beaten Lefties before. Not once but twice and in London. That cannot be ignored, no matter how much people want to dismiss it.

All I see is a nation that wants Brexit over and the Tories offer the single best chance of that happening. I just cannot see them losing, especially when you break down the results of both the referendum and the Euro elections on a constituency basis. All of which makes Labours Brexit position of a second referendum even more incredulous.

There are no votes in it.

But who knows in this modern political age? I am willing to concede that.

So by the same logic, countering with '[INSERT ANY POLITICIAN HERE] is a liar so there' is just as feeble, if not more so. That is my point. It's a pointless discussion no matter who you aim the target at

A pointless discussion which 'Bill' should not have started.

Why you are trying to score points off of it, heaven knows.
