Project fear. You do remember that we have spent 90% of our existence in the lower leagues? People happy to sell AWB, Zaha and Sakho really have short memories. We need quality players to survive in this division. Ask Fulham. 100 millions worth of mediocre.

The OG doesn't bother me. It happens. It's more about his overall performance, which was shaky throughout. That puts into perspective where he is right now. I agree with your assessment. He is a great prospect but has a lot of developing to do. Originally posted by Willo
I never saw the game last night but even the best players can score OGs. I was certainly not one of those advocating his selection for the seniors ahead of those mentioned.I have consistently asserted that he has a lot to learn about the art of defending,he is a work-in-progress and I don't seen him in the same light as many supporters who have elevated him to high status. The lad has the potential and naybe with experience he will be knocking on the door of the England team.

According to the Daily Record’s source, the deal is done at £55m. If true the news should come out fairly quickly now. A lot of money for a defender but probably worth more to us than that. Not the end of the world though if we spend wisely.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'AWB fee agreement?' by bexleydave Being reported a fee totalling £55 million has been agreed for AWB in the daily record. Good luck to him if true. Now give Ward the chance.

That is a very good deal for the club for the reasons outlined above. Whether we will re-invest the money effectively is another question... Originally posted by Eaglecoops

Just seen this. Fair deal for us. World record fee for back I think. Now SP use this money wisely to invest in a couple of good players. I would give Ward a go. Did well before.

If true then I hope the money is used to get a replacement and other players. I like Ward but I think we need better as first choice.

Being a squad player worked well for him and for the team last season ... we still need to strengthen the squad though. It's sad to see our best players going because we can't step up a gear but that's unlikely to happen without a big investor coming in to back us. Unfortunately, it probably won't happen until s***hole Park is developed. Always real estate before personnel.
