As far as I'm aware it's good for nationalistic Indians. They can now move to the Kashmir freely and take residence. Why would protests help them?

Yeah, basically....and the idea that they were Indians out there chanting pakistan, with signs complaining about this and waving pakistani flags is totally ridiculous.

You just proposed a conspiracy theory.....that crowd had to be physically stopped from getting at the Indian embassy.

You confused a demonstration about India changing the governance rules for its region of Kashmir. The demonstrators were presumably Indian, even if they flew pakistani flags

Second, you confused my post as being about Kashmir when in fact I was commenting about a similar situation in Hong Kong. Interesting how attitudes between the two differ, I wonder why.

Maybe you should take a break from posting if it's too much for you to stay up with the cut and thrust eh?

Maybe you should just stop posting diversionary codswallop. Your only mission is to be an apologist.

I will be taking a break soon for a nice holiday by the pool and you and your bulls*** will be the last thing on my mind.

Right, and the protests on the streets of Kashmir, causing lock-downs, are also by pakistanis. Maybe do some reading then come back and discuss eh?

This is an issue in India, not pakistan. Muslim Kashmiris often refer to a desire to be in pakistan, something the British originally wished as the Hindus were considered less compliant than the Muslims in the 1940s. The peace has been kept by allowing Indian Kashmir to be semi-autonomous - until now. It is the only Muslim State in India. It has always been on a knife-edge, ask anyone you know from Indian Kashmir. Quite similar to Northern Ireland during the troubles, where of course Republic flags were flown.

I can't be sure whether the protesters were Indian or pakistani but please don't let anyone paint this as a pakistani driven issue. India has changed the rules suddenly and without agreement from the local population.

The reason underlying this is access to water from the Indus.

I make no comment on the rights or wrongs. I am sure pakistan is just as involved in the issue as India for its own purposes. There are sound and unsound logics on all sides and a good solution is not clear. But the way people like to wade in on Muslims on this site is just madness.

Apologist my a*se. I simply correct misconceptions and false news, which is always something that upsets those who are wedded to the views they support.

I hope you have a lovely holiday and come back refreshed with a sunny and positive outlook.

No sorry, nothing I referred to was outside of the protests of London. You are attempting to widen the parameters.

As for world history, anyone with a basic understanding of British history knows about this situation and my knowledge goes far beyond that.....You on the other hand know a lot about farming and nursing....appartently.

It's an issue for both countries as the diplomatic interactions very plainly show.

Thanks for the unnecessary take on Kashmir.

No, you are just making yourself look ridiculous here as anybody who watches the video will see.

Anyone reading this needs to watch that video and then compare it to Maple's comments. I'm not of a mind to allow that level of nonsense to fly without criticism.

With respect to both India and pakistan - outside of the wider nuclear concerns - I really couldn't give a monkey's. This is their issue now and has been so for over seventy years...it's for them to resolve.

Out of the two I have more respect for India as that country hasn't created a large parallel society within the UK which is anti western and won't integrate.....The long running governance issues around Kashmir need to be settled either militarily or diplomatically by them.

In the meantime, in my society, I would have read the 'riot act' to those protesters and it would have been the start of a much needed re-calibration in this country......A start on weeding the damage that neo liberal immigration ideas have wrecked here.

England needs to have a high majority of English people in it.....that goes for both London and Birmingham and various other areas.

For social cohesion, every country must maintain it's own hegemony and not allow politically active sub societies to emerge......because all that does is create conflict.

I couldn't give a toss about the details.
These people are on our streets causing trouble because of stuff happening thousands of miles away.

Welcome to the predictable new Britain that people like you helped create.

Please tell me which point in the one hour 36 minute recording has people saying they are pakistani and that this is a protest only by - or even principally by - pakistanis.

Why oh why does the spell check keep making the P lower case?

It's a good point.

I must remember next time they have the last night of the proms on the television....at which point did anyone say they are English/British and that this is a celebration principally for the British.

I must remember next time they have a Palace home game...at which point did anyone in the home stands actually say they were Palace fans.....those flags could be cunning tricks.

I mean....I regularly see Indians in large numbers waving pakistani flags at protests and chanting 'pakistan'......happens all the time.

What was I thinking.

As you know through your broad reading, the division of Kashmir was not popular originally. Many Indian Kashmiris would like all of Kashmir to become pakistani. It is blindingly obvious that is why they were chanting pakistan. And if you listen to the people interviewed it appears they are indeed Indian Kashmiris. Some seem to hold rather impressive jobs in the UK. Those that I know, who feel very strongly about this, include doctors, dentists and investment bankers. Based and practising in Croydon too.

Sadly I can't find it on line. One of the best Goodness Gracious Me sketches - don't blame it on the sunshine, don't blame it on the good times, blame it on the Muslims.

It appears you didn't realise that was supposed to be comedy
