This isn't Fahrenheit 451 comrade.

I was wondering what happens to the books when libraries close.

Anyway, anyone who uses a library and votes Tory are punching themselves in the face.

They are either spread around other libraries in the same area if they are 'new' enough,or sold off to the general public usually.

Which is why libraries are important.
Loads of oaps in Chislehurst use the library. Many will never be tech savvy although the library has been known to offer courses.

Is this terminology actually still acceptable in 21st Century Labour Party circles?

What does that make Labour then - the Alzheimers of UK politics? Confused, muddled thinking, harping back to past socialist ideas all the time, not sure who they are anymore, don't understand simple concepts, think Theresa May is their wicked step-mum...

Bought a couple of books recently off eBay published years ago. Owned by libraries in places like Hull. Pristine condition. Looks like they've never had a page turned.

Society should have access to libraries but there's 2 in Caterham. One small one on the hill and one large one in the valley. Both have 2 people working in them. There is dial a ride if you can't get to one of them.

But I do agree libraries should be kept wherever possible.
But maybe if the local authorities that are threatening to close them, should look at how much their chief executives are paid first...accross all political parties before any one shouts too f***ing loud.

Austerity driven council cuts are to blame. Vote Tory and you're voting for more slashing of public services (things that are there for us, the public)

It's funny that when a ceo is paid loads it's to attract the best talent, but if it's a public service exec (who are there to make the publics life as good as possible and affects. hundreds of thousands of people) they're paid too much.

Vote Tory and punch yourself in the face.

No one who is a ceo of a local authority should be paid more than 50k a year simple.....because if it's a private company it's just that PRIVATE....a local authority is funded by the public....is that really that hard to understand.....get off your soapbox for a minute and think about it.

How do you attract the best if they can just go to the private sector? Although it seems a lot, Tis mere peanuts in the corporate world.

Any news on Merkel writing the ludicrous terms of Greece's bail out (that only bailed out the financial sector and sold off public services on the cheap)?

People need to be more media savvy in a changing world.

Dodging the point somewhat. The level of what you're calling "media savvy" out there in the populace is, in my view, on a downward spiral. It's very much in the mass media's (and their advertising customers) interests for it to be so.

As the populace as a whole spend more and more time on devices and less and less time actually thinking for themselves, do you see levels of "media savvy" increasing?
