Position in the table, ok . Form in 2019, highly commendable. Good to watch.... er, no. It’s a shame that the way Roy has found to get the best out of these players is to play the style of football we are currently seeing. It’s pretty turgid stuff but effective. We must spend Zaha money if he goes in Jan on a top striker and a replacement winger. I wonder how attractive our football would be if we employed an attacking midfielder like Víctor Camarasa

To be in a champions league position after what is the equivalent of two-thirds of a season is remarkable, considering Roy hasn't really been backed properly in the transfer market. I get why some people aren't happy with the brand of football we're playing. But surely results and points are more important for us at the moment, than the style of play. And it's hardly been like watching paint dry. We've also scored 40 goals in 2019 which is the 6th highest in the league so perhaps we're not as boring as some people believe. Also media darlings Bournemouth, a team often lauded for their attacking play, and where the manager is always backed in the transfer market, is 15th in that table on 30 pts.

Wasn't Sorloth one of Roy's recommendations?

I agree our style of play can be boring at times but I would take a win any day than playing fancy football and getting beaten. Not everyone has to play like Man city and Liverpool. Attacking is only 1 part of a match and without a decent defence relegation will come calling. Brighton have gone for the fancy football style of play and I wouldnt be surprised to see them sack potter by Xmas. If we had an out and out striker then I don't think there would be any complaints by the fans.

you have hit the nail on the head, it is SP/DF who have failed to deliver a good striker/poacher over the recent transfer windows when it was obvious to most that is just what we need and have be crying out for!

Rumour has it, that Camarassa is a bit of a prime donna/ bad boy and not settling in well. Roy isn’t going to disrupt his team with players he doesn’t trust.

our scouting seems poor compared to Norwich for example. Originally posted by Den1923

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
