As to those who currently support him, your suggestion that they will change their stance after 4 more years of Trump is hopelessly optimistic and gives his base far too much credit.

He will go through one clumsy, half-witted debacle after another but his base will continue to passionately back him regardless.

Where he has obviously erred, he will say something - actually anything - in tweet or speech and his base will blindingly believe him. You see, he was given to them by God.

Thus, he presses the red button and launches a random nuke strike against the Cook Islands. He then stands before the lectern and states that he didn't press the red button. No, apparently it was Chinese attack monkeys from outer space. His base genuinely and unquestionably believe the red button was pressed by Chinese attack monkeys from outer space and continue to adore him.

He has such a loyal support that he can be filmed cheerfully trephining babies on national TV and it will make not one iota of difference to his support.

Whoever this unknown star is they haven't gathered much support so far.

Perhaps those who stayed away thought that coping with their loss was all the family ought to be dealing with and them attending too would turn an already awful day into a nightmare. Who wants the funeral of your loved one turned into a political event?

If Biden had gone and made a campaigning statement afterwards I would have been both very surprised and just as critical.
