Then there must be an awful lot of recruitment sergeant’s because the latest polls show the race is almost neck and neck. When reality strikes the floating voters and/or Biden withdraws in favour of a younger candidate without the baggage or the legacy of unrelenting character assassinations, anything could happen. The fat lady isn’t even in the dressing room yet. She is in the hotel deciding if her sore throat and advancing years means that her understudy, an unknown star with a wonderful sense of timing, must take her place. It ain’t over till it’s over.

Trump will come into power, I have little doubt. It is his race to lose. The Democrats had a chance to replace the sleeping cadaver and chose not to. Madness. As to those who currently support him, your suggestion that they will change their stance after 4 more years of Trump is hopelessly optimistic and gives his base far too much credit. He will go through one clumsy, half-witted debacle after another but his base will continue to passionately back him regardless. Where he has obviously erred, he will say something - actually anything - in tweet or speech and his base will blindingly believe him. You see, he was given to them by God. Thus, he presses the red button and launches a random nuke strike against the Cook Islands. He then stands before the lectern and states that he didn't press the red button. No, apparently it was Chinese attack monkeys from outer space. His base genuinely and unquestionably believe the red button was pressed by Chinese attack monkeys from outer space and continue to adore him. He has such a loyal support that he can be filmed cheerfully trephining babies on national TV and it will make not one iota of difference to his support. Undoubtedly true about his base. What you, and many others, overlook is it’s not his base who makes the difference. It’s the independents, the floating voters not committed to either party. Capture the majority of them and the WH is yours. I think they are still up for grabs and when push comes to shove choosing 4 more years of Trump, or Biden won’t appeal but if that’s the choice, Biden looks safer. If it’s not the choice, as I hope and believe it won’t be, then the attraction of a fresh face becomes very strong. It’s all to play for.

Perhaps because they are unknown? They obviously wouldn’t be selected via the primary route, so you can discount that. We will see.

Four Presidents in NYC right now as I speak. Guess which one went to a murdered cops wake & offer his sympathies to the bereaved wife & 1 year old kid & guess which other three couldn't find an hour in their schedules to do so, but have found time to attend a Democratic party fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall alongside Lizzo, Queen Latifah & Steven Colbert.

The irony being that Biden and the dems actions do trumps fund raising for him.

I wonder why he did that? Out of genuine respect and to support the family in a time of need? If so did they approve of the media circus and security that would necessarily also be there, or would they prefer to have been left alone with their grief? Or as another opportunity to be exploited for his own purposes? Perhaps those who stayed away thought that coping with their loss was all the family ought to be dealing with and them attending too would turn an already awful day into a nightmare. Who wants the funeral of your loved one turned into a political event?

If Biden had gone and made a campaigning statement afterwards I would have been both very surprised and just as critical. Biden doesn’t get free passes. He just doesn’t behave like a crass ars*h*le all the time. Do you think Trump cares about anything other than himself? Seriously?
