I only understand that in some places here they apply. She just didn’t understand batch and he had no other word in his vocabulary. There was nothing on display to point to. This was a tiny general store.

My motivation is very straightforward. I am interested in both the news and politics. I also despise extreme politics, of the left or right. We see very little left wing thought in these pages, but a lot from the right, some of it straying towards the extreme. I express opinions. I read other opinions. I learn what others are thinking and try to determine why because only by understanding that can extremism be defeated. That’ll do for now. There’s a lot more I could add but as I doubt you are genuinely interested I won’t bother. The only thing extreme on these boards is the extremely tedious drone of your pro Europe, anti reality piffle.

Barclays to cut 900 jobs, Lloyds to cut 2,500 This is why we need to get a grip on immigration these are the numbers being reported. When I worked for a bank there were headline numbers in the media, the real total was much higher and came out much later. Across the economy these cuts will only accelerate with new technologies.

At least when I did it gave me a laugh! “Anti-reality” ought to be your nom de plume here as it sums you up perfectly.

Once again, to the hard of remembering. I am not listed amongst the unemployed. Stop spreading misinformation. This guy is in obvious need of an editor and lawyer to check after he types anything. Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Nov 2023 9.06pm) You got a bad back and knees then? No wonder you don’t agree with taking the knee. Hope they aren’t too hard to live with in any case. Keep taking the cod liver oil.

A week’s farm work will usually pay more than that. £100 per day is a reasonable expectation. I am no expert on UC or the whole benefit system but know that housing benefit has covered most of their rent for one of my previous tenants. Exactly how to reform it to achieve the desired outcome is above my pay grade. It’s quite a challenge which is easier to just ignore but is something I believe has to be done. It’s not just unskilled labour who populate the feckless and are milking the benefit system. Those with skills do so too. Nor is it just unskilled jobs that could be filled by them. Take, for instance, someone who has a bad back and knees, but also computer skills. They obviously could not work in the fields but they could on a screen, possibly from home. Wouldn’t that be of greater benefit to society, and to their bank account than, for instance, posting controversial opinions on football websites at all hours? One of my granddaughters has 3 children under 6. She is a mental health nurse and still manages to work full time, as does her husband. She works from home, at hours of her choosing, doing online interviews with those needing initial assessments. So the work is there, organised in ways that people can manage. Some though don’t want to do it. If only it was that straightforward. My son applied to several retail outlets for a job but they were dismissive as he had no retail experience. How do you get that without getting a job in retail? Having seen contracts for overseas farm labourers I very much doubt anyone is paid £100 per day. If that is the expected rate, no wonder foreign workers are employed, as they get a pittance

Entry level positions start at £21,594 per year while most experienced workers make up to £30,000 per year.

The state of British politics fills me with despair. Today we were subjected to Labour criticising the Tories on too much immigration, something that their open door policy caused in the first place. The public are being taken for mugs, and the only option is to vote for a third party in significant numbers. If we care about what is happening to this country, including the unravelling of our culture, we must ignore all the media propaganda and dirt digging and vote for Reform UK. They seem like the only viable option to put the frighteners up the two main parties.
