Looks like this will be a regular occurrence then …..it will be 3 out of 4 seasons we will have no manager at the end of the season.

My pennies worth. It's a logical re-appointment. My thoughts on the reasoning behind it is that I think Parish and Co haven't got the funds to buy a massive amount of players (as shown by the tiny profit we have made from lack of sales in any area)and so..any new manager coming in would have to work and get the best out of the young squad we have..... Roy has shown to be reliable at getting the best out of the youngsters and develop them. I expect we won't get rid of any of them this summer and that Parish is hoping RH can get them to develop even more and progress so as to sell them at the end of next season for a larger profit. We haven't even seen 3 members of the team we bought in Plange, Eboowei and Ahameda. Here's to hoping 1 of them comes good also. Roy. Iwould like him to get us in the top 10 with some good exciting playing and i think Parish & Co having the foresight to develop youngsters for profit is the only way I can see Palace eventually crawling up the league. Textor seems gunho with his ideas and the 2 Americans aren't in it for the love of Palace.

To be fair, reaching the top 10 would only require us to finish one place higher than this seasib, but it will be a challenge even if Wilf returns. Will Chelsea, West Ham, Wolves, Everton not rebound? Offensively we don't have dependable scorers, and defensively we don't have a dependable RB or LB. Our depth is lacking throughout the back line except for Richards. Thank goodness we're very good to excellent in goal! Surprisingly, midfield seems to have become our strength.

The only one of those players who got any substantial game time at the end of the season was Ayew, and he was dropped for the Leicester game until Zaha got injured. Two of them have left the club. Stop getting your knickers in a twist.

He earned a new deal and showed he could get us playing some entertaining football with the players we have. I was very sceptical but pleasantly surprised. With some talented young players it is good to have some stability ahead of the return to training. I actually wonder if the delay was Roy wanting reassurances he wouldn't be asked to work on a shoestring budget again. He made a few not unsubtle digs about not getting the kind of players we have now during his previous tenure. As always I expect a run of bad results to be met with talk of Kane taking corners and any good run to be declared a Royvolution and potential Champions League qualification before finishing mid-table. Welcome back Roy and Ray

As I said on here before it was always going to be Roy and Ray as it's the cheapest option both in terms of wages and ambition. A one year contract honestly what is the point?? Why are we delaying the inevitable? We have had since March to identify targets. He came in and the new manager bounce worked. We beat some poor teams and struggled as soon as we faced anyone above mid table so next season will be interesting. Of course I'll support the team. I just find this appointment on a one year contract massively underwhelming and if I'm honest totally pointless as it's just delaying it for another season.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |
