Nah, in your case the sun is always behind a thick, gloomy cloud. It's permanent intellectual darkness in your area. I know. I have lived there. More light escapes from black holes than wisdom does from the Fens. That is pretty insulting to those from that part of the world. I thought in your mind everyone was equal? Didn’t stop you living there for some time did it

Says the guy who put the place in his name. Sorry exploiter, you said illuminating, case closed....like your mind. My name is there only because that's where I was living at the time and, as you no doubt know, you cannot change your user name. I lived there because my business was there but was very pleased to leave it behind. It's an odd place, with a reputation I discovered to be very well deserved. Interesting in it's own strange way but I don't miss it at all, have never been back and have no intention of ever going. Feelings I recall you also expressing a while back. I'll close my own case, when I am ready. You can close yours by deciding not to respond.

The Wisbech I complain about is full of foreigners, before them this was quite a pleasant rural place for the elderly and more a tourist stop off....nothing like now. I hope none of those business customers you had here read you slagging off the Fens. Still, it does kind of fit in with how disingenerous you are. I bet you were quite happy smiling to their faces. Funny how you left really considering your love foreigners so much.....You must hate it after leaving for near totally white Cornwall. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Oct 2020 6.15pm)

The real problem in assessing the state of Trump's brain is that nobody can afford the search fees.

There are actually some nice people there. Mostly those who have arrived from other parts of Europe to work in the food factories and the farms, of which there are many. They definitely improved things during the time I was there. Until then it had the reputation of being a rather isolated and inhospitable place. I made many more friends among the newcomers, especially the Poles and Latvians than I did among the indigenous people.

Excuses, excuses. Listen, you're the plonker who made it your name not me. I did that when I first joined the Hol, which was shortly after I moved there. It wasn't thought through, or very original. It does though have a certain irony attached to it. The Wisbech I complain about is full of foreigners, before them this was quite a pleasant rural place for the elderly and more a tourist stop off....nothing like now. Tourists? In Wisbech? What on earth would they want to stop and look at? The only people I have ever known visit the town wanted to search out Tony Martin's farm at Emneth Hungate often without realising they drove past something more interesting in Reverend Awdry's rectory. Neither though are exactly major attractions are they? I hope none of those business customers you had here read you slagging off the Fens. Still, it does kind of fit in with how disingenerous you are. I bet you were quite happy smiling to their faces. I owned a business. I was not the face of that business. I employed people to do that job. Funny how you left really considering your love foreigners so much.....You must hate it after leaving for near totally white Cornwall. As the Cornish don't consider themselves English I have moved to an area where I am the foreigner. Fortunately, there is a greater acceptance here of the incomer than you usually experience in Wisbech. It's a little odd that you bang on so much about places being "white" and about "foreigners" when almost all the "foreigners" in Wisbech are as "white" as I assume you are. Unless things have changed dramatically almost all were from Eastern Europe. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Oct 2020 6.15pm)

Thomas Clarkson was one of the main campaigners responsible for the passing of the Slave Trade Act of 1807 which ended the British trade in slaves. Later on of course the British would enforce this throughout its empire. He was born in Wisbech and there is a big statue of him close to the town centre. Wisbech also has many examples of old well built housing alongside its river having been a rich port then....the image provided shows the statue and examples of old...I believe Georgian housing. There are also several old rich merchant houses that allow viewing that get tourist interest. Originally posted by Wisbech Eagle

Unless things have changed dramatically almost all were from Eastern Europe. Yes they are mainly Eastern Europe....though that is also changing. The fact that the immigration we have here is Eastern European does mean it's far less destructive to the town that's true. It's true Europeans are my brothers. However that doesn't mean I welcome a native and ancient British town being swamped with economic immigrants....especially not within the time frame it happened in. I don't blame immigrants, I blame those who enabled the invasion and the slow death of the English ruling over their own historic homeland and by extension the same for the Scottish, Welsh and Irish....and indeed, by extension wider Europe....though perhaps ironically not Eastern Europe. I am sure there is no fun to be had knocking about with bloomin foreigners.
