"Michael Flynn will reportedly testify that President Trump instructed him to make contact with Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign, ABC News reported on Friday. “[Flynn] is prepared to testify...against President Trump, against members of the Trump family, and others in the White House,” Brian Ross reported. He added that Flynn’s testimony, as such, would “contradict all that President Trump has said up to this moment.” Flynn, Trump’s former national-security adviser, pleaded guilty Friday to charges that he misled the FBI during a January 2017 interview."

And here's the underlying crime that completes the elements needed for an obstruction of justice charge against Trump. So we can add that to whatever Flynn alleges against Trump and his family.

Yesterday, Session was asked - while under oath in a closed door hearing of the House Judiciary Committee - if Trump had ever asked him to interfere with the Russia investigation (from which Session is recused); Sessions refused to answer the question.

Remember earlier this year when Trump, Pence, Sessions, Kushner, Junior etc. etc. said there were NO contacts between the campaign and Russians? Well there is now 19 individual Russians who are known to have had contact with Trump campaign / transition officials - including Sessions, Kushner and Junior.

This house of cards is starting to collapse. This is why there is such urgency to get the tax bill done. They may still get the tax bill done, but it will stink even more than it does already, as it will have the taint of Trump / Russia and Republican complicity all over it.

Yes, next year may well be when this 'entertaining' chapter comes to an end.

The Trump presidency will be an interesting one to analyse after the event. Policy wise, as we can see with these tax and attempted health care changes, nothing he does benefits the 'forgotten' people he claims to represent. Quite the opposite, it benefits those in his own financial bracket. It benefits himself, as that is largely how he behaves and what interests him.

His main 'gift' to his base are twitter rants targeting this group and that regardless of the merits or validity. That's the red meat for those going all in with Trump and from that perspective I find it quite sad really. People got played, but of course this is politics and it won't be the first time that's happened. It's just more glaringly obvious in this case.

And of course today's bombshell partially explains Trump's latest distraction. It's becoming a running joke that whenever Trump posts one of his twitter distractions it's to take the attention away from something unfavourable.

Here's something for you to consider: maybe, being 24, with a degree, with a full time white-collar job, and still having to share a flat with multiple mates because you can't afford to live where you work...which is Sheffield...is what is driving the discontent.

It's a valid point but I don't see Corbyn as the solution to those particular problems.

Disagree. Most subjects are chosen because they might appeal to the readers - or the customers, as the grocer - type proprietors will think. They are products to be sold.

Hence the importance of the BBC, and I also disagree with your assessments as per my prior comments about the make up of their panels. They piss both sides off, so an approximation of a middle ground is as good as it's going to get.

Not much agreement here but it's an exchange of stand points and that's something.

He's lying to cover for Russia involvement in poorly performing Trump owned bakeries in Sidcup.

Dream on Ray, dream on.

Trump won't be going anywhere over this chestnut. Lots of other possible pit falls but not this one.

People here voted for Trump (in almost as many numbers as they did for Clinton) specifically because he was someone who was going to shake things up. Now they're going to lose their healthcare and pay more taxes while their choice for President gets impeached and those around him go to jail.

The point being, don't overestimate people's ability to make rational choices when facing what they see as institutionalized hardship.

PS This is in no way meant to infer agreement with your opinion of Corbyn; I don't have a detailed enough understanding of UK politics to make such an assessment - which is why I have conspicuously avoided making such.

Trump is the whirlwind that Republicans are reaping for sowing the winds of discontent among their base voters. They blamed Muslims, Mexicans, liberals, Kenyans...anyone but the true villains (the donor class who attend the $50,000 / plate and feed millions into the "unaffiliated" Super PACs). They used to be lead by those who knew where the edge was and when to stop.

Then Trump came along and dragged the whole lot of them over the cliff. He is in this clearly for himself - both self-enrichment and also to benefit his Russian financiers / blackmailers. Mainstream Republicans were caught off guard by this, had no idea what to do, decided to try and roll with it to get their agenda passed and now may be in the process of destroying their own political - and the country's economic - futures, killing tens of thousands - maybe millions (if we end up at war with North Korea and/or Iran) in the process.

It's alright, I didn't infer agreement. I doubt there's much chance of us ever agreeing on anything. They was more agreement in the Spanish civil war.

I have little doubt that you would regard Corbyn as a little too right wing for you but basically on the right path

The non existent god save us from the hubris of lefties who think themselves so knowing and superior over the 'duped' as they see it.

Their type of attitude accounts for a lot of his votes. Most people know what Trump is and represents. I suspect the number of people fooled by him isn't any higher than the number fooled by any other politician.
