It happens all the world over trying to save a dollar.
The cladding was probably still within the BS
so like I said a perfect storm.
It's been installed in 100's of places and so far only one gone up
Grenfell
Would it be ok if it was a high class residency as that's the impression I'm getting here.
Then it won't matter as only rich people died!!!!!

Sadly, Grenfell has become all about politics.

The left have no qualms about using anything for political gain.
In building, almost everything is done in the cheapest way allowed. Anyone who has a new house will vouch for that.

He is wrong. As I have just said. Builders always use the cheapest legal methods to maximise profit.

Friend of mine recovered the 77 bodies from the ruins of that block - and identified them all. Somethings are bigger than politics, right wing or left wing, things like Grenfell transcends political agendas.

Far more clients fit this description in my experience.

Agreed.

The law simply does not go far enough to reasonably ensure safety. Whether that could ever be the case is debatable. Grenfell is an exceptional event it has to be said.

Certainly, the cheapest option is often chosen.

An asburd number of MPs are landlords and they're more than happy to reject ideas like requiring sprinklers as part of basic fire safety regulations in high rise blocks.

That's not relevant in this post Jamie
He chose his trade and does it for wages.
Brutal I know but that cannot be used to prove right or wrong about grenfell and potential blame and prosecution.
What if no one is deemed liable and it was just bad luck and a bad irony of situations.
That may happen and a witch hunt will then take place.
I think there are going to be a few Scape goats sadly.

As some others have pointed it it is possible that the regulations are to blame. There is a huge difference between a builder knowingly using sub standard materials and one that confirms to the current laws.

Of course I have no idea what the truth is but even if the builders are liable that may not be the fault of the council. The HMO was responsible for Grenfall.

Some people want justice which to them means sending Tories to jail. Well if they are liable I agree.

Sadly I suspect that the inquiry will find that the regulations are rubbish the inspections are rubbish the HMO didn't do its job and the council did not have proper over site over the HMO.

In other words plenty of blame to go around and very few people to go to jail.

Anyway I just hope that the judge gets to the truth even if it is a truth that does not fit with some peoples political narrative.

Feel for all but can't do anything but the truth which will save lives in the future. I hope the outcome is accepted and respected.

This conflict of interest doesn't give me hope...
